GuildPortal is accredited by the Better Business Bureau. As such, we commit to high levels of ethical business practices and customer satisfaction, and to work with our customers and the BBB to resolve disputes that might arise.
We do business the BBB way!
Above and beyond what the BBB requires, however, GuildPortal commits to ethical practices in a marketplace that is polluted with
individuals and companies that are more than willing to rip off players of Massively Multiplayer Online Games.
Many hosting companies are either owned by, or run advertisements for, RMT (real money transaction) companies. These are companies that
sell virtual items and/or characters for cash, often in breach of the end user license agreements of the games. By breaking their agreement
with every sale they make (and also causing the player buying from them to do the same), their entire business is based on a model
of breaking their word.
Whatever a person's personal stance on RMTs is, consider this: what makes the clients of such companies believe the company they're dealing
with will be any more honorable with them? Also, have you ever wondered where the funding for development of keyloggers specifically designed
to steal login names and passwords of gamers comes from? Did you know that gaming and hosting sites are regularly purchased by them
(including, of course, their membership databases)? They've learned not to announce it (often, they'll use seemingly-innocent "parent"
companies to mask their trail).
Since 2001, GuildPortal has held firm in a marketplace that has been slowly swallowed up by RMT companies. We've chosen this way of doing business
because we are morally against the other way. That's what being ethical is all about.
We believe this, in addition to our commitment to fast support responses and frequent feature enhancements, is the reason why we have been, and still are, the leader in guild hosting.
