Getting The Most From Your Guild - part 4

538766155_Inactive, May 1, 07 12:47 PM.
HOW TO BE AN EXAMPLE OF THE LIGHT:
1. Help Others - Helping others is the best example you can set as followers of the Light. Helping members and non-members alike shows a great example of what our guild is really all about and serves to spread our good reputation. I myself have taken hours of my time to help non-members get their quests done, quests no one else would help them with. Helping others when we are able to shows we think there is something more important to us than our own character, it shows we know this game is a community, and only by working together and helping each other will we make our experiences here fun & memorable.

2. Integrity - This is an important attribute for any player to have. A player with integrity will always have friends in Warcraft. For example: when doing instances with a group, members or non-members, you stay to finish the instance and make sure everyone gets their quests done OR you set a date for doing a group quest and make a point of showing up at the appointed time;
Though we all know Real Life takes precedence over game concerns, showing other players you have consideration for them goes a long way in an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game).
Show players you have honour and integrity, and you will always have allies.

3. Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated - here is a simple rule that is so easy to apply to yourself. If you don't want others ridiculing you in-game, don't do it yourself. If you want players to treat you with respect, show them respect yourself. Too many players in this game think they should be shown respect simply because they are lvl 70 or think they know EVERYTHING about Warcraft, yet they treat other players like simpletons, beneath their notice.  Respect is a two-way street. Show respect to everyone, the morons, the jerks, the idiots. Show them you are not like them, by simply ignoring their words (/ignore [name] is a wonderful thing!), walking away, or in some cases, report them to a GM if they are especially venomous in their words or continue to harass you. But don't tell them you've reported them, just report, and leave it. Ignoring a few typed words in your chat box isn't as hard as you might believe.............

4. Patience - Though this guild is made to be a resource for its members & make it easier to find help for group quests, it doesn't always work out that you can find help from the guild at the time of your need. For this reason, we are always recruiting (any member can recruit, as long as they make known what kind of guild they are in), and we only allow 2 characters per player, as its players we want in this guild, not characters to fill our numbers and give the illusion we are large.  :P
For this reason, exhibiting patience with this guild and with other players will go a long way to enhancing your enjoyment of Warcraft. I currently have 3 greyed-out quests (no XP for them when quest title goes grey) for a dungeon, I've had them a good 2 weeks! But I wait patiently, and when I see a number of players on at the appropriate lvl, I ask for help, and usually get it! Be patient, members will help you with your quests when they are able to.

THIS ENDS THE SERIES.

Getting The Most From Your Guild - part 3

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOUR GUILD:
I get this question a lot, what can members do to help build up the guild? How can they repay the free items they get from our guild bank, or repay the generosity of other members? The following is a list of things all members (leaders & members alike) can do:
1. Save material resources in your own bank-
-since the space I have in the bank is limited, and even a character alt for bank use only would be a pain in the butt (as I would be hopping back & forth between characters to get stuff out of the bank for members), it would be better for all members to save materials in their own bank, materials that can be used by crafting skills, such as cloth, ore, leather, gems, etc. This way, our guild resources are spread out, and not held by just one character. If I'm not online, or away for awhile, members will still have access to the resources other members have saved. If members don't use what you have saved, you can always sell it at Auction House once-in-awhile to raise some needed coin for your character.

2. Donate Coin-
-Coin is something I do not ask for, though some has been donated to me by members. I have used this money to expand my bank slots and buy larger bags for the bank, so I can hold more materials for members. Any money donated by members will be used for the benefit of the guild, not my own benefit, though keep in mind donations are not necessary and I'm content using my own money to expand the bank.

3. Ideas-
    - We want to hear your ideas! Are there events you want to see this guild do? Do you want to see guild meetings? Your ideas as members are what will help drive this guild forward. Any ideas you have should be posted at our forums for all members to see and comment on. Get enough members on-board for your ideas, and the Guild Council will make them happen. This guild has no agenda of its own, our only agenda is to work to make a guild that is fun for its members and a haven from all the jerks that plague this game. We are here to make things happen for our members, so your input is invaluable to this guild.

4. Helping Others-
    - Helping members is all well and good, but helping non-members is even better! When you take the time to help a non-member, you are advertising our guild and what we are all about. Some players have joined our guild based solely on the actions of some members! I sometimes get mail from other players, praising the help they received from one of our own! When you take the time to help other players, you are fostering a healthy gaming-atmosphere and giving our guild a good name as a fore-runner of what a guild should be. This helps our reputation on this server immensely, and will only serve to help our guild grow, and bring other guilds into alliance with us, for the purpose of raids or events.

5. Other-
    - RP Storylines: if you have any in mind, bring it to our forums, and if its appropriate for our guild, guild leadership will help make your storyline happen.
    - Forums: being active in our forums helps bring more life to our guild, and helps us to get to know each other better, fostering comradeship between members.
    - Signing in at Website & Forums: Being able to track how often you visit and for how long, enables us to see who is more active in the guild. This helps the Guild Council decide who should rank, as we want guild leaders that are active in the guild, to promote a healthy and fair guild for all members. Its quality that counts when receiving a rank, not how long you've been here. If you've been here 6 months, and haven't lifted a finger to help others or haven't made use of any guild resources, then what makes you think you'd be a good Master, or Councillor? Being active not only makes it a more fun & interesting guild, but marks you for future leadership. You want to repay the work I put into this guild? All it takes is some effort on your part as well. With everyone putting in a little, and being active with the guild outside the game, you bring life to our guild, and that repays the work I put in tenfold.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS & LEADERS:
1. Leaders' Responsibilities-
It is the responsibility of Guild Leaders to ensure the guild has all the resources it needs, such as our website and forums, and to ensure guild members are getting along and that an atmosphere of fun & respect is being fostered between members. Running a successful guild takes hard work & dedication. Guild Leaders CANNOT always be there on demand for members, as they would never get to play. This is why our website and forums are VERY important, as they make available information to guild members. Guild Leaders cannot be typing to members all day, so Leaders will often refer you to our website or forums to save themselves an hour of typing, explaining to a single member what was already explained to 5 members in the hours previous! Which brings us to.......

2. Members' Responsibilities-
Members must ensure they are active in the guild to get something out of it. Visiting our website here to catch up on the latest news, and being active on our forums, are two crucial steps to getting something out of this guild. If you expect to just "pop-in" and suddenly tell members you need help without any warning, or without listing what quests you need help with at our forums, do not expect to get help much, as chances are that members already in the game are busy helping others already. DO NOT whisper guild leaders directly for help. A lot of members do this, and will get you only one response, "Ask over guild chat, please." as all our members are supposed to be here to help, not just the leaders. If members are not helping out very often, they will not gain ranks very quickly. Those that are active in the guild, helping others, making sure other players are having fun; these are the members that gain ranks and move on to contribute even more to our guild. It is not the responsibility of leaders to make things fun for you, nor will you find this guild fun if you do not participate in guild activities. This guild exists to help players and create a respectful atmosphere among our members, as we all know how hard decent players can be to find in World of Warcraft. So, if you want to see your guild do more for you, make your voice heard and make use of the tools we have provided you, like our forums, and us leaders will do our best to make things happen for you.

Getting The Most From Your Guild - part 1

HELP WITH QUESTS:
1. Help with Dungeon (instance) Quests-
When doing dungeon runs (instances) you should seek help from players around your level. The reason high level players SHOULDN'T take you on instance runs is because the lower level players will get no Experience Points (XP) being grouped with a high level player, its just the way Blizzard designed the World of Warcraft. High level players running low level players through instances should be done as a last resort, when the low level player cannot find anyone else to help and desperately wants to get quests in the instance done.

2. Getting Help with Normal (non-instance) Quests-
This is one place higher level players can help with impunity. Higher level players NEED NOT group with lower level players to get these quests done. When the lower level player(s) attack enemies first, the enemies are then "marked" by them, meaning only the player that attacked the enemy first will get the XP and item drops from that enemy! So, while the lower level players should attack first, its the job of the higher level that is NOT GROUPED with them to keep those low levels alive, help finish enemies, and make sure they are not being mobbed. This way, the low levels are still challenged by having to lead the quest & attacks, while the higher level is challenged by trying to keep them alive. Its actually a lot of fun, I find!

Brotherhood Targetted By Ex-Members!

538766155_Inactive, Apr 23, 07 11:03 AM.
As unfortunate a reality as it is, some people come to play Warcraft for no other reason than to ruin the fun of other players, just because they can. Though some of these players may have been members in the past, the Guild Council believes some of them may have been targetting our guild for harassments, by creating new characters, joining the guild, and enacting wierd behaviour just to get a reaction from us. Though of course people that join the guild with the purpose of being a disruption will not be welcomed in our guild and will always be booted. I want you all to be prepeared for what is to come. We will never stop recruiting low lvls, as it is not the purpose of this guild to just get to end-game, but to provide a fun & clean environment for our members to play in. If anyone is harassing our members, or if any members are trying to cause a disruption in the guild, please let the leadership know (myself, Master Agatha, or Master Thalgrin), and we will deal with the situation while protecting your identity, we do not name names when someone has brought forth a concern.
