Guilds
Welcome
Welcome to a raid group. This is a collection of smaller guilds looking to do bigger things without lowering their standards are far as guild admittance is concerned. There will be several rules so that people have a full understanding of how things work and nothing lies in question. They can be seen below. Please read. If ever there is a question of the rules we can revert to here.
Minimul lvl requirments: There are none. However you can not start earning DKP until you start doing Outland instances. If you want to bring you lvl 1 warrior here thats fine. We can give you tips on your class and how to better play class if you've never played a warrior. This works to both our causes. You get better at your class, and when you do start doing Outland instances, we get a warrior, or whatever it is you made.
The leaders: The leaders of this group will be the respective guild leaders of each guild. Select others who have shown they can lead and are willing to lead. The leaders for raids will have master looter which prevents ninjas. They don't have to attend a scheduled event for you to recieve DKP, they do however have to attend a pug event in order for a point to be awarded, thus preventing people from earning DKP that they did not in fact earn. The leaders are human so don't expect them to be perfect. *grins* Except me.
Admittance: This is an ugly topic. We are a raid group. We are looking for competent people in the dungeons. Not leets sauce. Just people who know their job. If your a hunter you had better have know how of ice traps for CC. (Crowd control for those that may not know.) I'm not saying this for people that know their job, so their is no need to get defensive. If you want to learn your job better, or your job on an alt cause you've never been thats fine also. Just let us know so we can help you. So that we can also expect you not be at the top of your game. Which is fine we don't expect perfection. Just as close as you can come to it. *grins* No we don't even expect that. We just want you to do your job so that we can do some sweet stuff, and get the PHAT lootz. If someone makes a mistake. See below.
Flaming: We do not want flaming, or drama or any of that crap. Drop it off in the trash can at the door. If you bring it with you, we leave you in the trash can at the door. If someone makes a mistake look back at the time you've made them. And do not pretend that you have not, cause no one has not not made mistakes. ((Gah the double negative twist the brain)) If they make the mistake just explain to them what they need to do and leave it at that. If you make a mistake and someone explains what you need to do, just *nod* and drop it. They are trying to help. If you've done it a million times thats fine. The party leader is the one that does the explaining, so four people aren't typing out one guys mistakes.
Attendance: You have to sign up for events in order to attend them. Any may post an event. Events do not entail RP. If you want to do RP you can post it yes, but you will not recieve DKP. You just get to RP. Yay! Anyways in order to attend you must sign up as previously stated, and please if you sign up. Show up. We do realize that things happen in real life and that they take precedance. If something happens let someone know. It makes things easier, and someone might be able to be found to replace you. You do not have to be active to join the raid group, nor do you have to raid a certain amount. If you come around once a year to do one event, then welcome to that one event.
This raid guild will run on DKP, which sucks I know, but it however is the fairest way for loot to be divided amoungst the guilds without favortism. As there are several guilds that will hopefully be involved. DKP stands for Dragon Kill Points for those that may not know. The way we will work this is like this, even if others do not do it like this, this seems the easiet way. You must be 60 plus and in an outland instance/raid in order to recieve DKP
---2 points for a heroic or raid run 1 point for finishing the run.--
You spend your DKP like money to earn the right to roll on an item. If one mage has 4 DKP and another has 3 the mage can spend her 4 and roll. If she passes the one with 3 can. I know this means that those who play more than others get to roll more often but if they play more then that also means there is a good possibilty that they already have it. If you are 70 and decide to do, MC for example. DKP is NOT awarded for that. It's just fun to do. It must be an instance within the outlands.
For attendance to raids and we have a surplus of your class. It is a first sign up first come. For the surplus, you are on standby. If we do not recieve word of why they are taking so long in 10 minutes your number is called.
Epic world drops: If an epic world BoE item drops while in an instance. Everyone is to roll greed and be done with it. If you discuss it amoungst the group cause one person wants it thats your business. If one guy does not want to do that respect it, cause BoE epic items are for all. Even if he just sells it or sends it to an alt, or even... *gasps* Disenchants it.
Disenchanting: Before the event begins if there is a Enchanter and no one wants the loot, then he is to roll need and DE it. Then the mats from said DE are to be rolled on by the collective group. Simple.
The group and what it provides: This is not a place to get free stuff. That is for your guild. This is not a guild. This is a raid group. Now you can buy something, or someone can give you something. Thats between you and whoever. This is for raiding a 25 man raid, when you only have 10 people in your guild. If there is anything else that needs to be addressed it will be done so at a later time.

Rule Change
KaIpex
, May 30, 07 4:10 PM.
There has been a coupled rule changes. I posted them below as well as updated the first page. Please read so you can be up to date on them.
---2 points for a heroic or raid run 1 point for finishing the run.--
We didn't want people grinding out instances just for DKP.
For attendance to raids and we have a surplus of your class. It is a first sign up first come. For the surplus, you are on standby. If we do not recieve word of why they are taking so long in 10 minutes your number is called.
This is just an update. Nothing changed just something new.

For those new members, please update your profile so that we can know what you can do, and make plans around that. We can put up an event for Heroic Coilfang Resovior if only one person has the key. Man did I hate grinding that rep. All the way from honored to revered and I got nothing... anyways. Do it. *grins*
First Legion
KaIpex
, May 27, 07 9:40 PM.
I have seen First Legion enter into Serpentshrine Caverns. I don't know how disturbing this is for you, but for me it distrubs me greatly. Now they are going to be slightly harder to kill. That and alliance are getting into areas that we have yet to enter. This was seen on the day of May the 24th, 2007. We need to get on big things to keep up with them. Next it will be the Black Temple. I know it's no race, but I won't be beat by some ally scum. *spits*

Raid Point (DKP) Standings Enhancements
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/12/2010 6:55 PM
The Raid Point Standings widget has been given a boost in functionality with today's code push! While the widget on a page displays much as it has before, clicking on it will open a dialog with a log of drops the member has paid out DKP for, manual adjustments made by events admins, and a full event attendance history.
In addition, event admins are able to add manual adjustments directly from the dialog (under the "Manual Adjustments" tab). No need to hunt around in the control panel for that, anymore!
Finally, a new button is visible to event admins when viewing a specific event using the Calendar widget that makes it possible to go directly into event follow-up, without needing to hunt down the event in the calendar widget editor listing. The link to directly edit the event itself has been converted into a button to make it easier to find, as well. Both are along the top.
New Web Mail UI
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/11/2010 3:13 PM
A new web-based mail interface goes live with today's push! The new UI brings GuildPortal's mail up to date with some of the more intuitive mail systems out there, offering grouping, improved sorting, and simplified custom folder creation.
It no longer requires a dedicated tab, as clicking on the Mail links (regardless of navigation type) will now open it in its own window. For those who already have sites with an inbox widget on a page, it will now load the new UI embedded inside. Admins who are particular about style settings within pages may want to remove their dedicated mail page completely and just let the links do the work.
Custom Event Roles and More
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/4/2010 4:39 PM
Custom Event Roles top the list of items included with tonight's code push. Click the Edit button under your calendar and then click the "Custom Roles" link at the top of the editor window. This allows you to add to the list of default event roles like DPS, tank, healer, etc. In addition, you also have the option to completely replace the default roles and use only your custom-provided ones. The check box for doing so is located in the same place.
Some bug fixes included in the update:
Clicking on Manage Guild Associations for a character will no longer result in a redirect to the GP home page.
A blank page will no longer show up when sending new mail from the inbox.
Adding a new custom event category, and then immediately adding a new event, will now show the newly-added category (previously, you had to close the window and re-open it).
There is now an option in the Control Panel, under Style Settings : Text, that makes it possible to specify the spacing between lines in posts, news, and other areas.
More font options have been added to the Control Panel, under Style Settings : Text.
Various widgets have had their output modified slightly to make them more uniform with the rest of your site.
Subscribing Helps, but there is More You Can Do!
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/3/2010 12:06 PM
Most of you know that since December of 2003, GuildPortal has been donating $1 from every guild web site subscription and subscription renewal to
Food for the Hungry
, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing relief services to the poor, including emergency assistance and educational programs that provide impoverished communities the knowledge they need to better sustain themselves.
Right now, the
40th Annual Hunger Fund
is
multiplying donations 53 times
. That means for every dollar, $53 in actual aid is shipped for suffering children and their families in Haiti and 13 other countries facing widespread disease and hunger.
We wanted to bring this to your attention so that you can participate in helping the Hunger Fund save lives even more dramatically, $1 at a time, via your direct donations, if you so choose. For more information, please visit
The Hunger Fund
.
A bit of legalese: GuildPortal is in no way being compensated for linking to The Hunger Fund or Food for the Hungry.
A Thanks and a Push
GuildPortal Change Log Entry

First, thanks to everyone for your patience during the recent updates. They were by far, the most extensive and complicated set of changes to the infrastructure during all of GuildPortal's time online. We apologize for the constant revisions we needed to make to the estimates.
Now, back to normal! Tonight's code push includes a fix for the news item viewer's commenting functionality (when opened from the small news widget).
Chat Room Enhancements and Blog Fixes

Links to blogs from the most recent blog entries widget, as well as links to your own blog in both the top and side nav areas have been fixed.
Also, upon entering guild chat rooms, you are shown the help command. When you type it in, you can see the available slash commands for chatting. Included are sending a sound to the room, listing available sounds, and sending an emote.
Saturday, February 27th Maintenance
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
2/24/2010 2:08 PM
From Saturday at midnight until completion (some hours later), GuildPortal will be down for maintenance. This is the final phase in a series of infrastructure updates we've been making. It will also address the problem with adding images to your galleries.
February 15th Maintenance
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
2/9/2010 2:34 PM
Due to rampant zombie infestation of the current data center, there will be an 8 hour service window beginning February 15th at 11:00 PM EST, during which there will be a data center migration of servers, switchgear, and associated IT equipment from the current facility to a new data center.
All attempts were made to fight off the zombies, including liberal use of fire, shotguns, Ving Rhames, and just about everything you can find inside a sporting goods store.
Downtime will likely not take the full 8 hours. Estimated downtime is calculated as follows:
10 minutes - fit armored vehicle with weaponry
30 minutes - shutdown of servers and un-rack
15 minutes - load time
30 minutes - transport
15 minutes - unload time
60 minutes - re-rack of servers
15 minutes - buffer time for overruns
4.9 minutes - check for zombie bites
.1 minutes - whack any zombie bite victims
The migration has been planned extensively over the past 6 months and we anticipate a limited amount of downtime. This procedure has been rehearsed with test equipment and live ammunition in a wide array of scenarios, such as:
Zombie attacks on the armored convoy while en-route.
Zombie ambush at new facility.
Zombie development of the ability to run (usually only the UK versions do this, but one can never be too careful).
Zombie conversion (via bite) of IT personnel while servers are being handled (IT personnel are expendable and will be sacrificed).
In order to avoid encountering yet more zombies, we have planned our route to steer clear of the following types of areas: malls, farm houses, high schools, colleges, places of work, places with people, military installations, amusement parks, golf courses, highways, and London.
