Over on the Nerd Boards there was a discussion that went completely off topic and ended up discussing whether or not Magneto (the character, not Ian Mckellen) was gay*.  Someone though they remembered Magneto having kids.  I'd never heard that, but then, I never followed the comics.  Did he have kids?

*It started off talking about the new Star Trek remastered edition, which led to someone saying that Sulu was going to be Hiro's dad in Heroes.  That led to a poor attempt at a joke about Hiro being adopted, which led to Tom Hanks not being gay but playing the role in a film, and Ian Mckellen being gay, but playing straight characters, which then led to the really odd way Magneto was acting on the plane in X2, when he was talking to Mystique about Rogue's new hair.

When Magneto escaped the Nazi concentration camp, he escaped with a woman whom he married.  They had a daughter and eventually moved to either Russia or a Soviet controlled contry.  The locals were not accepting of them and gave them a hard time.  One day Mag's house caught on fire, he went in and managed to get his wife out, his powers kicking in for the first time to protect them from the fire.  He was too weak to go back in, but after that display no one was going to go rescue his daughter.  His daughter was killed by the fire, Magneto was so angry he let loose a torrent of energy that killed the people there, and that set him on his path.  His wife was so frightened of both the power and especially the threats he was making against humanity she fled.  She eventually eneded up at Wundagor Mountain, where she gave birth to Magneto's twin children, Qucksilver and Scarlet Witch.   There is also the rumor that Polaris is his daugher or something.  They dispelled that rumor before, then brought it up again, so nothing official there.

He nearly had a thing with Rogue at one point, not sure about any other potential relationships he's had.

Alsoin the Age of Apocalypse (alternate universe storyline), he actuallymarries Rogue and impregnates her.....uses his powers to protect thefetus.  Yeah...he's hardly gay.  Trekkies should stick toStar Trek lore....they are a bottomfeeder species of geekdom.

Thanks for the replies.  It wasn't that anyone specifically said he was gay, it was more about the fact that a gay actor played him in the movies, and that actor can portray characters that are oriented differently than they are in real life.  How it all came up was the change in X2, where magneto seemed to be a little more girly than in the first one.  It was really noticeable on the plane and really anytime he was around Mystique.

And I don't know if I agree that the Trekkies are the bottom rung of the geek ladder.  There are people out there the can actually tolerate CSI: Miami

And what was their problem about Magneto talking about Rogue's hair?  In the movies he is responsible for her white streak.

It's not that he was talking about it, it's the mannerisms he used while doing it.
