TO BE ANNOUNCED
It was just another fine fall day in Paragon City in the year 2007 when the story of the Guardian, Thought Shield began. As I was pouring over some base reports and filing all the required forms for Super Group registration and upgrades, I received a call from my good friend Azuria. It seemed that a young high school student had gotten himself into some trouble at City Hall while there on a civics project. This young man named Kenji had taken a drink from the fabled waters of Mesmeranos, which were being stored in the MAGI headquarters in Atlas Park until a safer location could be found. They had been confiscated from the Circle of Thorns by one of the city’s many super groups. I forget which one at this time. Well, the waters had interacted with his body chemistry and given the young man some type of mental powers and other yet unidentified abilities. Azuria pleaded with me to allow him to join the Guardians of the Golden Age so that she wouldn’t have to send him to juvenile hall.
At first I was a bit hesitant to take this young man into the Guardians of the Golden Age as I knew that many of the tasks we performed were very dangerous and allowing a boy of only 16 or 17 to be exposed to that sort of life could be fatal to him. However, after much persuading by Azuria, and an increase in our hospital transporter privileges I agreed.
The first time I saw Kenji he was decked out in the most colorful outfit I had seen in a long time. Which reminds me I still need to set up an appointment to have Kenji checked by the Guardian’s medical personnel for color blindness. However, far from the little delinquent I expected I was faced with a polite young man who was only just beginning to come to grips with having super powers. I knew that given the right tutelage Kenji would grow up to be a fine hero. Being the intelligent leader that I am, I sent him on patrols with Sant Jeanne and Patriette as I knew Jeanne would keep him healthy while Patriette would keep the attention of the villains focused on her. This worked quite well and Kenji quickly rose through the ranks of the Guardians, passing many of his fellow Guardians in his quest for the fabled security level 50.
In his journey he has blossomed into a fine young man and an even better hero. His skills have matured and developed and he has become a formidable opponent for any villain or villain group. However, where Thought Shield truly shines is when he is providing assistance to his fellow Guardians and controlling a battle through his sheer force of will. His ability to weaken our opponents and strengthen his comrades is something that has turned the tide of battle more than once or twice. It is with GRRRRRREAT HONOR that I announce the graduation of Thought Shield from neophyte hero to one of the vaunted Heroes of the City.
