Okay. I have downloaded, installed, and patched Champions Online.

I have created a toon... son of a gun, Torchflame was available!

I have finished the introductory arc.

And I am rather confused. I always hate the learning curve of a new game. So, um, Torch in out there, sort of... no idea if I stick with him or not as of yet, no idea if I stick with CO yet or not. If there's a way to connect to those already there, someone send me a PM... or tell... or whatever they call it.

That's the thing Torchie. All names are available. They connect them to your global to create unique combo. It takes a bit getting used to but I kinda like it. Also type:

/channel_join Next-Gen

In the global channel you'll find the crazy people. And yeah the learning curve kinda sucks. Big thanks to Summer who just helped me get the hang of a lot of stuff. The first thing I recomend doing is create new chat tabs. The main one runs so fast its insane. I made one called "Sanity" with just team, tells, local and my globals.

I don't understand why we just can't do a reboot in the vein of, say, an alternate title book or a Marvel Ultimates thing, or the difference between two lines of X-men comics. There's several X-men continuities, you know? Say NG was here already, in the background, or just reboot the whole damn thing, ignoring previous lore while using it to forge ahead. All this extraneous stuff creates plot headaches that require dancing around and at the same time obviates the struggles of the "new" or remade people, who are suddenly pawns in some extradimensional game that's been going on for ages and there's only one side. Great for NPCs. Bad for peer-to-peer RP.

Let the people who want to refugee be refugees, and just ignore all this other stuff.

Grim, Summer and me had a long discusion and hopefully sorted out the problems to everyone's statisfaction. I'm not entirely sure I was just waking up
More info comming soon. In the meantime we will keep standing vigil in COH till the world ends while we prepare to live on in Champions. The new NG will be familiar but not the same thing. Our story will end with our world but our legacy will endure.

I think there is a certain poetry to a reboot... building off the original base concept to reform and reinvogorate it into something all new, yet pleasantly familiar.
I assume everyone has something with every character that they would do differently... be it an overly evil character(for me it was Rapine), a misstep in an origin(i dropped the ball with my own personal storyline and changed dayrunners name to Xtraction; he sounded like a dentist) or killing someone off at a bad time(my favorite fliety character, Omni-Mind). I could rename them and fix my mistakes. This could work...

Perhaps it's not a re-boot at all, but a replacement of consciousness.  What we thought was a transfer of the body is actually only a transfer of spirit?  There's a bunch of stuff that might come from that, perhaps even multiple personalities?    I can see it being a shock to suddenly re-appear and find out you're a world threatening villain in this world.  How would you resolve that is, to me, an interesting question.

For the record, I just purchased a gold account with Champions and the character designer is as good if not better than CoH with the options opening up as soon as you make the payment... and frankly, I don't see how anyone could design a character utilizing anything BUT freeform designed characters...

Yeah the tailor is suprisingly not-terrible.

The only thing I can't stand is hips/waist are all one ONE single slider. I've spent hours trying to make a butt look not-dumb and I just haven't yet>_<

Well Elli, designing butts and every other body part has been a mancentric area of expertise since body sculpting was initially thought of so you've just laid a challenge before me... I shall design the perfect bootie now.

Post pictures...  *grins*  Maybe the sliders you got to make it if you make it.

Edit:  I still detest the CO character designer.  I can never get the sliders right.  even on my main Aeri.  I still hate the face Ive made.  just not sure how to fix it...

Post that fiction!  the life blood of this group is in the forum.  The forum goes quiet, so does the group.  the forum is active, so is the group.  Just look at the activity and see.
