Rogues are your primary damage dealers in a group.  They should NEVER be used for tanking or taking damage.  A rogues is most effective when left to themselves to deal as much damage as they can during battle.

Use this thread to discuss the rogues and thier make up.

I just figured I'd post here since it seems kind of unused. Following are just thoughts and observations I've had on being a rogue and how I think the class fits into party tactics. There's a lot more to it than just dishing out pain.Damage:Lots of damage, yes, but remember: "Rogues do it from behind". Give the rogue room to get behind the mobs on the other side of the melee. This is where they deal the most damage. Let the rogue stealth, sneak through the melee and then ambush and backstab. This might pull aggro off of the tank, but no worries. If that happens, the rogue will probably either use feint to reduce aggro, or lay off the combo-point generating moves until aggro goes back to where it should go: the folks wearing plate and carrying large shields.Scouting:Rogues also make good scouts for those curvy twisty unfamiliar places if their stealth is high enough and they can communicate what they're seeing. This takes patience and coordination within the group, but can be useful when planning movement through the place, or deciding how to proceed in general.Distraction/Guerilla Tactics:When you need to either isolate a boss or keep him/her busy while killing the minions, the rogue can sap whichever targets you need kept out of the melee. At high levels, a rogue can sap then drop back into stealth without ever being detected. Just make sure to attack right after sapping, or the poor rogue's left getting the brunt of the mobs' anger.Annoy the Magi:Rogues can be useful in canceling spell casting with kick and mind-numbing poison attacks. At the very least, this can reduce the casting time. This is helpful in both solo and group tactics if the opposing group has an AoE or healing magic type. Put the rogue on the magic types and rest easy.PvP:Rogues can sneak and set targets up for a beating with movement-slowing poisons, DoT attacks, stun shots, etc. All the while, the rogue is dodging and weaving and vanishing out of battle while the rest of the group beats senseless the hapless alliance who happened to get in the way. Fun!So, yeah, a rogue can deal damage. A lot of it. But beyond that, rogues are tactically sound additions to any party and can be used to make a dungeon crawl a little easier to manage. Not to mention they're handy for all those locked chests.

Thanks Golbash. I'm sure that will be handy to our rogues.

By far, one of the BEST Rogue threads ever.

You've got some really knowledgeable people speaking on the class here. The builds are generally PvP based, since that's what the original poster wanted to focus on, but over the pages the discourse broadens to common questions like Improved Sap and the not so common Hemmorage, not to mention the viability of various skills and builds as they relate not only to PvP (1v1 duels AND group PvP) but also PvE, and end game instances (from Onyxia to Molten Core).
