Content Boxes and how to add HTML

This is a step-by-step guide on how to add a "Free Form text/HTML" box to your site and add HTML into it.

Quick Summary

  • Copy (Ctrl-C) the HTML/code you want to add.
  • On your site choose Control Panel > Pages & Content.
  • Click on the page name (under Page Contents) where you want to add the box.
  • Click on the "Add Content" tab at the top.
  • Box Title: Name the box.
  • Type: Choose "Free Form Text/HTML".
  • Side of Page: Choose "Left Side", "Center" or "Right Side".
  • Click the "Add" button.
  • Find your new box in the area below, click " Edit Content".
  • Before adding HTML, click on the HTML mode button ( HTML).
  • Paste (Ctrl-V) in your HTML code.
  • Make the changes you need.
  • Click the "Save" button.

Detailed Instructions

  • Copy (Ctrl-C) the HTML/code you want to add from your source.
  • Click on " Control Panel" at the very top of your web page after you are logged in.
  • You'll see a Site Admin panel on the left side, click on "Pages & Content" (Figure 1).

  • Click on the tab where you want to add the box, possibly your "Home" page.
  • Now click on the "Add Content" tab at the very top of the page to the right of the menu.

  • Box Title: Name the box.
  • Type: Choose "Free Form Text/HTML".
  • Side of Page: Choose "Left Side", "Center" or "Right Side".
  • Click the "Add" button.
  • Find your content box on in the page after it's reloaded, then click " Edit Content"... the example below is the "Search Box" from my test-site Home page.

  • Now Before adding HTML into the editor, click on the HTML mode button ( HTML).
  • Paste (Ctrl-V) the code you want to add into the GuildPortal editor box.
  • Make any changes you need to the HTML/code.
  • Now click on the Design button ( Design) in the bottom left to view the changes you made... don't worry if you don't see much or if something doesn't look quite right because the editor doesn't use the site CSS or show some of the content added by Javascript.
  • Click the "Save" button
  • View the page on your site and see if everything works like it should.
Edit (11/8/2008): Updated the instruction and images for the new GuildPortal control panel - sorry it's taken me so long
Edit (2/27/2009): Updated text and images to reflect the changes made to the GP Control Panel
Edit (9/12/2009): Updated text and images to reflect the new changes.

Hi xxxHumblexxx!

I just tried adding the code you have above and they both worked for me... was this posted around the time the new editor was added and messing up? I just got back from a vacation, so I'm only guessing.
