How to Install or Uninstall a Mod

GuildPortal has added mods! YAY! This makes it really easy to add and remove custom code to your site.

Basically a mod is a bunch of code that includes HTML, CSS and javascript and includes a way to customize how it works.

Install a mod
  • Go to your Control Panel > Site Mods > Get Site Mods
  • Search for a mod. For example, enter "hide" and click [ Search Mods ] or press enter.
  • Look for the mod - example: "Hide Admin Edit Buttons" (the only mod I've written so far)
  • If the mod has a red icon () to the left that means it isn't installed on your site; green check icon () means that it is installed.
  • Click on the mod name if you want to install it.
  • Look in the "Mod Info" window at the top and click on "Install Mod"
  • If there is any customization code, it should now be editable.
  • Hopefully the mod author included some instructions on how to customize part of the mod, mostly likely you will be:
    • Modifying variables inside of a <script> tag (javascript variables should start with a "var"
    • Changing colors of the mod in some custom css - the css should be inside of a <style> tag
    • Click [ Save Code ] button
  • Reload your site page to see it in action!
Uninstall a mod
  • Go to your Control Panel > Site Mods > Get Site Mods
  • Find the installed mod, by searching for its name. Look for the green check icon on the left, it should make it easier to find.
  • In the Mod Info window at the top, look for the green text "This mod is installed on your guild site."
  • Click the "Disable Mod" link to the right.
  • Reload your site page and you're done!
