Add a transparent background to a widget

GuildPortal admin site link to original post

To make the widget background image transparent, you'll need to use a background image. I have a set of background images that started from 100% opacity (solid black) down to 50% opacity (for every 5%). Please feel free to use any of these images or make your own based on a different background color.

To use these images:
  • Go to Control Panel > Style Tools > Content Boxes (Widgets) > Body tab > Background Image.
  • Enter
  • Save Changes
  • Reload you site page
  • If the background opacity isn't quite right and needs to be darker, add 5 to the image file name number (in red below): (# = 50, 55, 60, 65,... 100)
  • Just keep repeating the above steps until you get the look you want.
  • If the opacity isn't light enough, you'll have to make your own using photoshop or some other image editor. Or leave me a message here and I'll make one for you. I think somewhere GuildPortal has a stash of transparent background images somewhere as well... I might look for them someday
