If you didn't get into the beta but want to get a feel for mechanics changes, 4.0.1 is now active on the PTRs. This is Cataclysm without the ... cataclysmic ... part.

I'm probably going to check that out.  I've read a few postings on the forums that have me a bit nervous.  People are reporting that Paladins tanks are suffering hard with the new mechanic changes.  AoE threat has been nerfed to the ground (Consecrate on a 30 sec. cooldown??  WTF?) and prot paladins in full 277 gear are dropping within seconds to packs of mobs in 5-man heroics.

The portals in Shattrath and Dalaran have morphed into class trainers in the latest beta build. It makes sense, as I'd have made one of those places my hearth so I could get anywhere easily, which I imagine they'd rather not be happening.

Boooo....that's why all my characters have their hearth set to Dalaran!  I imagine my mage will see a sharp uptick of whispers asking for portals in the near future.

I'm mixed about the portal change.  I'm a fan of it for the nostalgia factor and for keeping Dalaran/Shatt from being people's hubs, but I also remember what a pain in the ass it was to move around in vanilla.  Plus, let's face it, people have been spoiled.  When people sit in Dalaran and ask for summons to an instance that's a 40 second flight, it drives me crazy and this is only going to make things worse.

I think that all 4 major cities should have portals to each other and I'll be surprised if we don't see that at some point during the expansion.
