About your character

Are you applying for a social invite or as a progression raider?
Progression, with either character.  I enjoy them both, its the raiding that I miss.

Characters:
Garithras, nelf warrior, 15/3/53Profiles: Prot, Fury.
Kenal, nelf druid, 18/0/53.  Profiles: Tree, Boomkin.

Are you dual-spec and/or would you be willing to respec?
Certainly.  Gari's fury gear is acceptable for ICC10 pre-hardmodes.  Kenal's boomkin stuff is nearly equal to his tree gear.

Briefly describe your usual DPS or threat rotation and when (or if) it varies. If you are a healer, tell us about your healing style.
Garithras prioritizes Shield Slam > (soon again, in 3.3.3) Revenge > Devastate, queuing Heroic Strike whenever I'm not rage-starved.  If a similar effect provided by someone else, I also ensure that Thunder Clap, Demo Shout, and Battle/Commanding Shout are active.  Abilities like Spell Reflect, Berserker Rage, Shield Bash,  Disarm, Concussion Blow, and Shockwave are used when appropriate.

Research has shown that its worth matching socket color in the socket bonus is somewhere between +6 and +9 stamina per socket.  Taking the -20% ICC dodge debuff into consideration, I've decided to stretch that a little bit and match as low as +6 stamina.  I just recently collected all the materials for the Boots of Kingly Upheaval (Item), so my hit rating is well above the cap.  I don't have non-hit items that are superior to my hit choices, and my next emblem purchases will actually put me below, anyway (I am 8 emblems from Verdigris Chain Belt (Item), and Sentinel`s Winter Cloak (Item) is my next planned purchase).

When raid healing, Kenal uses Wild Growth and Rejuvenation, with Swiftmend and Nourish for when someone dips low.  Even when assigned to raid healing, I usually try and keep a 1-stack Lifebloom and Rejuv active on the tank.  If I'm specifically assigned to a tank, I use Lifebloom (either a 1-stack or stacking 3 before letting it bloom, depending on my mana and the encounter), Rejuvenation, and Regrowth, with Swiftmend and Nourish as filler when needed.

I am currently trying to decide between a T10 set piece (the shoulders and gloves are the best itemized) or filling one of my weaker slots and getting Volde's cloak (crit, bleh) -- before any raiding I will either do that or at least enchant my cloak with haste.  My weapon is probably my weakest slot, but there are no real upgrades outside of raiding -- Surgeon's Needle is a small spell power upgrade, but its not itemized very well for trees.  I've been hoping to get lucky with the Mag'hari Chieftain's Staff but haven't managed to get one yet.  I've also considered the battered hilt mace, but 10k is a huge chunk of change for something that's not itemized that well for me and I'd replace pretty quickly if I actually were raiding, which is the only place I'd actually need an upgrade over what I have now anyway.

Bonus points for a WWS parse of you performing well:
I don't have anything real recent (I've been mostly just casual for a while now), but here's one of Kenal back in January.  I'll try and at least get a VoA posted soon.  Edit: Here is one of Kenal in VoA.

What consumables do you bring to an average raid?
Garithras: Flasks of Stoneblood & Endless Rage, Haste, Indestructible, and Health potions, hit & expertise food if I'm not capped, fish feasts.
Kenal: Flask of the Frostwyrm, Haste and Crazy Alchemist potions, fish feasts.

List your relevant Wrath raiding experience (bosses killed):
Cleared Naxx, Maly, Sarth 3d (pre-nerf), Ulduar (except Algalon -- I should note that I was raiding with a DK tank, Glamr, during Ulduar), ToC, ICC10 up to and including Rotface and Festergut.  My family life interfered with raiding about halfway through Ephemera's Ulduar excursions, so I missed out on most of the hardmodes there.

Do you want to bring any alts with you?
Not particularly.  I would like to still remain in contact with Ephemera.

About you

Have you read our guild rules?
Yep.

Please review our raiding schedule and indicate what days you can attend. If there are any raids you can partially make, indicate that as well. Times are EST (server time).
All days and times are fine.  I have agreed with my wife that I will only raid twice a week (which exact days are flexible), but I will be able to log on after the rest of the family is tucked into bed even on my off night -- usually around 10:00.

Do you have vent? A mic?
Yes to both.

Are you over 18? Or can lie well enough we’re not going to catch you out?
If I had kids when I was 18, I probably would have killed myself.

Maturity as measured in kittens:
I skin kittens for slippers.

Why do you want to join Bacchanalia?
Because you guys don't suck and I'm interested in sticking with the 10 man raiding scene over the 25.

Past guilds (including imaginary ones):
I've been in Ephemera since Nov '04.

Reason(s) for leaving your old guild(s):
I can no longer make their 7:30 start times.

Are you applying to other guilds (including imaginary ones)?
I've applied to Incoming Death as well.

Do you know anyone in Bacchanalia?
Nemasis.  I've pugged with several of your members, but there's no guarantee they'd remember me.

Tell us about yourself:
I am 31 and a stay-at-home dad of two.  I don't like walks on the beach.  I am an avid ultimate frisbee & racquetball player.  My wife (probably truthfully) thinks I'm addicted to this game, but loves me anyway.

What’s your favorite web site?
Google.  It gets you anywhere.

Garithras, let me just start by saying that I am very impressed by your application. It was well written and you have a solid grasp of resto druid. (I leave the prot warrior evaluations to Idonttankjak.) I had a few minor questions, but nothing that raised red flags with me.

1. Gemming on the Spectral Kris - I was curious about the choice of a hybrid gem for a crit socket bonus, especially without 4pc T9, instead of a straight SP gem.

2. Your talent choices are spot on for a 25 man raiding druid; would you change it at all for a 10 man raiding spec? (I'm looking particularly here at the CF talent points, the choice of revitalize over living seed, and the 3/5 nature's bounty.)

3. Along those lines, since your spec looks to be set up to support blanketing a raid with rejuv/wg, I was surprised to see you using glyph of rapid rejuvenation. Is that your usual raiding glyph? And do you find that it's worth the loss of the GCDs caused by the shortened duration?

4. Haste - You currently have 815 haste; the GCD/nourish soft haste cap with CF (assuming WoA and paladin/moonkin aura) is 735. You're actually pretty close to the 856 (no CF) number. Have you considered switching out a point or two from CF into other talents in the resto tree?

As I said, all fairly minor points. Overall, you are a very solid applicant. Unfortunately, our raiding roster is pretty full, at the moment. I'll discuss it with the other officers, but I don't think we can offer you a raiding spot at this time.

At the time I needed a second blue gem to active the boomkin's meta.  I guess I simply forgot to replace it later.

2. Your talent choices are spot on for a 25 man raiding druid; would you change it at all for a 10 man raiding spec? (I'm looking particularly here at the CF talent points, the choice of revitalize over living seed, and the 3/5 nature's bounty.)
Honestly I'd have to raid for a while and see how my spell usage changed.  I'm certainly game to try living seed in place of revitalize (I'd decided it was worth ~75 dps per fury/energy raider), I was a little on the fence there as it is.  Regarding CF, Ephemera only recently picked up an ele shaman, so those haste buffs were missing in our raids.  If you guys typically run with all the haste buffs, then yes, I'd drop CF.

If I'm dropping CF, those points would first get placed into nature's bounty.  I made the decision to use 2/2 Empowered Touch instead due to dropping living seed.

3. Along those lines, since your spec looks to be set up to support blanketing a raid with rejuv/wg, I was surprised to see you using glyph of rapid rejuvenation. Is that your usual raiding glyph? And do you find that it's worth the loss of the GCDs caused by the shortened duration?
I haven't totally made up my mind about rapid rejuv.  Currently I'm carrying a stack of Nourish and Rapid Rejuv glyphs so I can use both.  I think it depends on the type of fight and who else is healing — generally on tank healing fights I'd say its worth it, and frequently in 10s as well since you often only need to keep it up on 5-6 raiders (Festergut would be an exception).

Like I said earlier, Ephemera didn't use to have an ele shaman in our raids, so I took that into consideration originally.  Assuming you have both haste buffs, 11/0/60 is what I'd try out to start with.  If you have 2+ rage/energy-based DPS I'd stick the 3 points from Natural Perfection back into Revitalize.
