Lucyinthesky, Vidala, Buendar, Green, Ghostwatcher, Ramaven, Anorake, Theleb, Killaforlife, and Bornfree managed to finish the Kara run last night, and we mean FINISH finish.

Special mention must go to Lyle and Paliee, who were in the run for the first half.  Wish you were here, fellas.

Get Thee to a Brewery!

Brewfest has started, and the loot that drops off Coren Direbrew is STUPID-good.  So stop screwing around and go directly to your nearest Brewfest, complete whatever quests you can, and then toggle off to Lower Blackrock Depths - Here's the quick and dirty guide to killing Direbrew:

1. Get the quest - There's a quest giver in Kharanos who directs you toward LBRD to kill Direbrew.  Get it - or not.  It's not necessary, and gives no rewards whatsoever.  But the quest giver is so close to Brewfest proper that there's no downside.  You do not need the quest to kill Direbrew.  Anyone who tells you different is wrong.  If they insist that you get the quest, just lie and say you've got it.

2. Head out to Lower BRD - Easiest way is to the Flight Point in Burning Steppes, and then northwest to Blackrock Mountain.  Run down the chain to the platform in the center, then through the tunnels to the other chain which you also run down.  Then run through (forward, a bit off to the left, into the room to the left) to the entrance to the Lower Blackrock Depths instance.

3. Once you enter the instance, look to your right - You'll see some controls you can operate.  Activate them & they'll teleport you to the encounter.

4. FIGHT! - Coren starts yellow.  Talk to the Brewfest Spy to get the quest to insult him, and then talk to him to start the easy fight:
  • Make sure the tank is on top of Coren, ready to pull aggro off you.
  • With a Paladin tank, it's wise to AoE the nonelite adds.  With a Warrior or Bear, it's easier just to heal through them.
  • Ignore the girls - Ursula & Ilsa Direbrew occasionally stun or Barrel! people, but it's just easier to ignore them & down Coren faster.  If you find a mug of beer in your inventor, drink it, though: They each chuck beer at you, and if you have a mug in your inventory when they hit you with a second you get stunned.
  • DPS Coren - Don't neglect the boss, he's the key to the encounter!  Once he's down < 15% it's usually best to ignore everyone else and burn him down.  All the adds despawn when he dies.
Coren Direbew respawns as a nonhostile ~30 seconds after dying, ready for another person in your group to insult him again.  A group with 5 people who've not yet summoned him that day can complete the encounter 5 times a day for five epic trinkets, and 5 shots at one of the brewfest mounts, which have ~5% drop rate (total).  Because starting the fight is a daily, you can take another five shots at him tomorrow!

The epic trinkets are identical in every respect but the name to the 41-badge trinkets sold by G'eras, and since the name is different, you can carry two now. They're wicked good, and nobody lvl 69 or higher has any excuse for not having several by the end of Brewfest, on October 4:
