I'm sure you've all either read or experienced the new tapping system?  There is no longer a reason to fellowship. You don't receive credit, even grouped, if you haven't healed or damaged (no tactical non-damage skills.)  Obviously it's only in Rohan so far, but any deeds or group quests in Rohan are going to bite hard for Burglars (maybe cappies?)  Generally speaking it completely dis-incentivizes group finesse (or even functionality for that matter), forcing us toward tap-credit rather than getting the job done the most efficient way. I can imagine frantically running my little hobbit around maybe getting a hit off on half the kills instead of doing what he does best; jacking fools for chunks of their morale one at a time, thus burning down the mobs faster for the sake of the group. It's not clear from the forums, does anyone know whether this will be the case in group instances (I know it's early and there are none yet, but thought maybe someone might have an answer)?

Don't have an answer for you but during development was (and am currently) afraid of this movement away from fellowing.  Fellowship and Raids are what kept me in the game so long - making contacts like the excellent Inklings and sharing laughs is great.  Some in game friends are people I've played with for close to 5 years now!  If this  just breaks down into solo play for everything, that fun and comradery missing would diminish that quality of play a 1,000 fold.

I love the new tapping. If they didn't do this (with MC), I wouldn't have probably played the game. It make a lot of sense in may ways. I leveled my burg first Shaun and played him a lot on BR. It works well.

As for grouping, this expac offers grouping for Warbands and for Moors. Many MC skills and traits are for group play/coordination, and many of the wardbands take a group to defeat. You cannot effectively tank or heal without a group and other MC skills depend on fellowship.

I'm not complaining about tapping generally.  I'm referring to the removal of fellowship shared-kill mechanics.  This makes it highly problematic for classes like Burglars.  If you don't contribute within a fellowship you don't get kill credit.  Obviously this will be much more problematic if the mechanic goes into instances, but since that's unknown I haven't said anything else.  But for grouping in Rohan, this seems like a nonsensical break with 5 years of group mechanics and it will detrimentally affect grouped slayer deeds and quest completion for non-ranged single-target dps classes.

Open tapping is quite simply the new way to go in the MMO genre. It makes for much friendlier interaction with other random players on the landscape. I'm all for removing penalties that don't add anything to one's gaming experience, and tapping of mobs has always seemed to me one of the worst examples of an unnecessary penalty.

I haven't taken a look at the burg's mounted abilities yet, but I can tell you all that guards have a whole trait line (the blue) that is designed for tanking and/or group heals. This group heals role is new to guards and I'm excited to give it a go. Burgs and captains are surely not the only class with fellowship-oriented mounted abilities.

Look back to RoI. Where was the landscape group content in that expansion? That arena quest with the trolls? Lol. From what I gather, there are a number of fellowship- and raid-sized warbands in RoR where I'm sure that merely tapping among a large zerg of "gold-taggers" will not suffice. We will need the guard group heals, the captain buffs, the burg fellowship manoeuvres. Rest assured.

The lack of an instance cluster is worrisome, I agree. But I trust that it will come.

And as for the Moors...Never has there been more of a reason to fellow up out there. Kills now have a minimum renown reward of 10 per kill in fellowships, raids, and even as gold-taggers. Perhaps now healers will heal, and I'll play my sorry slug of a shield-wall guard (since that's all we're apparently capable of doing out there according to the guard forums, lol).

Nothing worse then coming across a player fighting a mob and dieing to that mob.  Jump in to help the out and then getting yelled at for hitting that mob.  Glad those days are over!

I agree!

Tapping also helps alleviate the grind aspect of those "go kill x amount of whatevers." Now several people can be in the same area after the same mobs and not "fight" over or get frustrated about not being able to get to the mob first. I like this change!

I agree with Fateon. About the moors comment.
Perhaps I spoke to early having not got past the level 80 areas.  Just voiced a concern and will withhold judgement until fully explore all areas.  Apologies.
Overall I love what they've done (the new looting is great, landscape awesome, mounted combat intense) and have few issues.  Only one thing comes to mind with this as with every expansion:  For those of us with multi-toons that we could could have some fast forward option on lengthy dialogs in epic.  Seeing it once is cool second time semi-okay but after that it's just tedium.

Burgs do have mounted group stuff as well as 2-3 range skills from mounted.

I love the Tap. It has worked out really well in test and live. Moors will be now one of the best grouping areas.

Epic - the dves have been told that anytime there is dialog, it needs to going forward being dramatized. And then I could see a fast forward option like you can do with the cut screens.

I have really liked the tapping system so far and has made questing much more enjoyable for me during the first few days.  I think when it comes to helping support/non-AOE classes, common courtesy should kick in.  I tapped a mob a burg was on and brought over two more with my bow so I could AOE.  I turned my back then to make sure none of them went down before the burg had time to get some damage on all of them.  I ended getting a /thank e-mote, which was nice.  I understand people's concern, but I'm all for things that reduce animosity between the free peoples of middle earth.  Greyed out mobs and slow respawns in a new area were the work of Sauron.
