What Is Elysian Dawn?

Elysian Dawn is a large all inclusive family friendly guild community on the Kargath (US) server in the World of Warcraft. The community consists of three guilds. [i) The flagship guild Elysian Dawn consisting mainly of mid to high level characters. ii) The sister guild Elysian Dream consisting of mainly lower level characters dedicated to levelling iii) The horde guild Elysian Night which is developing. ] The Elysian Dawn guild community is gaining in strength and numbers every day and our vision sets the sky as its limit. We are dedicated to having fun and helping each other improve the experience of playing World of Warcraft. Elysian Dawn includes members who play adamantly and those who play casually. All types of players are welcome. Elysian Dawn counts on the leadership of it's senior members and the enthusiasm of it's junior members to achieve success. Elysian Dawn members are proud to be a part of our guild and are expected to treat each others with respect and promote a guild family atmosphere. The Elysian Dawn website was created on June 15th, 2005 to improve the experience of Elysian Dawn members on their conquests through Azeroth. This site has evolved over the past 3 years and will continue to grow as we strive to improve our guild. Elysian Dawn's Background

Elysia, like Asguard is a name for the land of the Gods. Also like Asguard, the only way to get to Elysia from the mortal realm is via a rainbow bridge. Elysia's rainbow bridge appears everyday at dawn. As the sun rises the bridge fades away. It doesn't take long to go away and only those mortals who have the courage and stamina can make the run across the bridge before it is gone. If you don't make it, you fall into the abyss. Making it to the immortal realm can only be done during the ELYSIAN DAWN.

Elysian Dawn Finally Downs its First Cata Raid Boss : Magmaw down in Blackwing Descent!!!!!

Last night a group of Elysian Dawn adventurers went into Blackwing Descent and downed the guilds first Cata Raid boss......The big giant fiery worm named Magmaw went down in a blaze of glory much to the delight of the raid!!! Grats to Fanas and Cronno who each received an epic for this kill!!! The pic of the raid and the downed worm is below:

Hey all....After too long of an absence i am back once again to help get Elysian Dawn back up to full speed. I have missed ED and everyone in the guild soo much. Some extraordinary circumstances came up at work that was a lot to take in so that kept me occupied in June. So far this July has been about me getting back to regular exercise and catching up with my real life friends and also getting my computer fixed. I have also been taking time to get caught up with the WoW lore. I finally finished reading Stormrage and i am now reading The Shattering. Cant wait to get started on the new book that just came out too. I look forward to playing regularly once again and exploring all WoW has to offer with all of you once again.

So to start things off. Many of you know that i love lore......so here is a link to an old lore podcast i used to love.....It aired on WoWraido around 2005 and 2006 and has some great info. I believe it eventually evolved into another lore podcast. Check it out if you would like to hear some cool discussions about WoW lore!!!

Elysian Dawn Enters a Cata Raid (Blackwing Descent) for First Time

Grats to all the members involved who particpated in the event or who flew standby for it. Props to the members who completed the Deadmines Heroic Run.
We expected it to be very much a learning event where we learned just as much about ourselves as we did about new raid mechanics. And we did learn quite a bit so the information gained really added to the success of our evening.
The main thing i think we learned is that we need more active healers. The number of healers we had available limited what we were able to do as a guild on this Friday night. We had enough dps and tanks to make a whole 2nd ten man raid team but we did not have the healers. Even in our main ten man run we had someone healing who heals as an offspec. The members who ran the Deadmines had to pug a healer.
So we shall go into action and put more emphasis on healers whether its through recruiting or through people playing more their alt healers. I know there are some good alt healers out there so we need to get them active. We presently have DPS coming out our ying yang so I can tell you that it is competitive for Dps to get into a raid. We will try our best to include as much DPS as we can in our raiding events and use the new raid point system as a guide when making decisions as to who to invite. I know there were a few disappointed dps Friday night but fear not, we will make efforts as much as we can to get you in there eventually. In the mean time we really appreciate the people who were there to fly standby and also the people who did the Deadmines run too!!!

So the first raid points are about to be distributed and the first raid night report writtent. I am sure by the time you read this it will be done so go check it out. Thanks again to all who participated in our first Cata Raid night!

New Raid Points System Starting

Hey Elysian Dawn!
For Cataclysm our guild will be implementing a new raid points system to help us better track the activity of people in our raids. We would like to know who are our most regular active raiders! It will have nothing to do with loot distribution but it could effect decision on raid invites. We want to make the best informed decisions as possible when inviting people to various raids and this will help up us do that.
The system will start out very basic and get more complex over time. It is meant to serve us as a guild and we will not be slaves to it. It will be kept tracked of in the forums. Every raid we do will be reported on in the forums too. So please check the applicable forum once we start raiding.

For now the points allocation will be as follows:
200 points for showing up on time and being in the raid at raid start time
100 points for being in the raid half way through the raid
100 points for being in the raid at the end of the raid.

This is what we are doing for now and just so you know, the system is flexible. We can change it we desire. We shall see how it goes.

Widgets sometimes only adding to the home page (regardless of what page you select) has been fixed.
Newest Members widget displaying incorrect data has been fixed.
You can now specify a custom favicon (the icon that appears in the browser when people are visiting your site) to be used instead of the default GuildPortal ones. The place to specify the icon to use is in Control Panel > Style Tools > General > Layout.
Story chapters will now display in order of chapter number instead of the order in which they were entered.
New widget: Torhead Search goes live! For those using the Mod, you no longer need to (but you still can).
In the forum display options, you may now specify that the most recent posts to show should be 0. If you do, the most recent posts will not be displayed at all. Some may find this useful, especially if used in combination with the Most Recent Topics widget.
Bank items with "Display to Members" un-checked no longer show in the bank widget.
Guilds with subscriptions expiring soon will now receive a more informative e-mail reminder.
Guild Events/Raids can now be set to "Block Signups" when entering them. Doing so prevents members from signing up to the event.
Application Questions may now be edited, although once the type is saved (multiple choice vs. text entry), that cannot be changed.
The maximum number of Recent Posts to Show in the forums has been raised from 20 to 50.
The signature generator should now always update your profile with the new image.
A new page in the Control Panel, called Raid Points Tools (under Member Management), provides quick and easy ways to mass adjust everyone's raid points/DKP by a set amount (either deducting or adding), reset everyone's DKP to 0, and individually edit member DKP without having to enter an adjustment.
ATT/AP were dropped from the Raid Points Standings widget. The data was essentially meaningless, and became only moreso over time.

A new widget called "Rally the Guild" goes live today! This beta widget operates much like a shout box, except instead of just adding a line of text to your site, it will send the text to members via either their cell phone or e-mail. For cell phone delivery, members will need to configure texting in their Profile (the widget itself provides a direct link to configure it, as well). Only those with officer level or higher access to your site may send out rallies, and only those marked as associate or higher receive them.

Also, images uploaded since the new file storage system was brought online (images that show as being located on a path that begins with /GuildImages) now show an Edit link next to them in the File Manager. Clicking it brings up a new web-based image editor that gives you the ability to crop, add text to, and otherwise manipulate images. The functionality of this editor already has planned enhancements, coming soon. It is also available from the Gallery widgets upon upload of new images, if the uploader has Images Admin rights on the site.

Over the past couple days, we ran across a hardware problem with one of the drives on our database server, causing some downtime. We apologize for this. The good news is, however, that we have replaced the drive with a mirrored array that has twice the space. Also, while they had the system open at the data center, we had them double the RAM as well, which should have a positive impact on performance.

To make things run even better, we have also brought in a company that specializes in the optimization of databases specific to the platform that GuildPortal runs on. They have completed their initial monitoring phase, and we will be working closely with them to implement their recommendations.

Other stuff addressed in this push:

Aion armory tooltips are fixed.
LoTRO Integration now allows manual entry of your guild name, in case your actual guild name was already taken for your server and you had to use a different one when creating your site.
Approving/denying item requests in the bank now visually updates the visibility of the approve/deny links, giving a better indicator that the command was performed.
A bug causing only one item to show when viewing item requests has been squished.
SuperAdmins can now delete crafting orders from the main display of the Crafting Marketplace.
Spotter's Order was nerfed in Rift. (Okay, so we had nothing to do with that -- we're just very, very angry about it)
