Members of guild sites are now able to "vote" on whether they like or dislike individual posts. Images are included by default, but admins are able to specify their own custom images in Control Panel > Style Tools > Forum Icons.

Quick update: An update is being pushed to production shortly that will make it possible to disable this functionality. To do so, you'll need to click on the Edit button under your forums, click Display Options, and then check the box that says "Disable Like/Dislike in Posts."

Other changes going live:
  • Parent forums will now correctly show the sum count of posts and topics for both themselves and any child forums.
  • Marking people as having attended an event/raid in Event Follow-Up has been sped up.
  • WoW guilds with over 100 members will see all of their members (approximately 4 hours after the update for this to occur for all guilds).
  • Buncha little things for support tickets.

I'll push an update on Monday that'll add the ability to disable it. It will be in the forum editor's display options.

Right, update on this. I'll be pushing that change within the hour.

Edit: Done. Sorry about the lack of foresight on this one.

Hi Aaron!

How about letting us change these under "Forum Icons"

I've been looking around to see if there's anywhere that would let admins see who "liked" or disliked a post. We were considering using this as a quickie means for our members to say they came by and read a boss strategy without having to actually write a post saying they did so.

Also, is it me, or are the thumbs made to be displayed vertically? I was wondering if we used a small enough thumb's up / down icons, they could sit side by side, so that they don't take nearly as much vertical space, and stretch our posts to be needlessly long/tall.

Thanks lots!

Hi Sabreclaw!

They were vertical in my forums as well, so I found that you could add this bit of css to make them smaller. Add it to your custom css (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard)
/* forum like/dislike blocks */
.LikeVotes, .NoLikeVotes { display: inline-block; width: 40px; font-size: 75%; padding: 10px 0 !important; float: none !important;  }
.LikeVotes img, .NoLikeVotes img { height: 16px; }

Yep. Style Tools > Forum Icons -> Scroll down to Post Listing. They're the first two.

Thanks lots, Mottie! A fine, simple fix to help squeeze 'em in there. Well done!

Now, here's hoping that we admins can view the data somewhere, as to which members actually liked those posts, and we'll be golden! On the other hand, if GP officials think that would be a privacy issue, then it'd also be good to know, so that I can write it off as a possibility for my earlier stated purpose.

Thanks again for all you do!

As an alternative, maybe you can run a poll in each strat thread?

Yes, I read
Did not read (or another yes choice so as not to confuse the fact that "not reading" is not an option)

You will be able to view those whom voted (now how they voted, just that they did).

They will not need to post a reply and you will be able to see who read it.
