A new web-based mail interface goes live with today's push!  The new UI brings GuildPortal's mail up to date with some of the more intuitive mail systems out there, offering grouping, improved sorting, and simplified custom folder creation.

It no longer requires a dedicated tab, as clicking on the Mail links (regardless of navigation type) will now open it in its own window.  For those who already have sites with an inbox widget on a page, it will now load the new UI embedded inside.  Admins who are particular about style settings within pages may want to remove their dedicated mail page completely and just let the links do the work.

While this is very nice, I lost EVERYTHING in my Inbox except for mail from one particular person.  And even half the mail from today is missing from him.  *sigh*

Also, is it possible to make it so when you strech the lower part of the window, the Inbox listing expands? Currently when you strech it, the window with the scroll bar remains the same size instead of filling out the space.

Thanks for the upgrade.

Very nice Aaron!

But, I do have two questions:
  1. Can we skin it?
  2. Is the mail notification (in the state bar/top menu) still working?

It's pretty nice.

There are some issues though:
  1. In Navigation type: Content Box - Left Side: the Mail | Chat html is a bit broken, the <a> for the mail is actually outside the <li> and the <a> inside it just links to gp.com. And since the Mail and Guild Chat are two different <li>s, there's a really ugly line break.
  2. When you select a folder in the mail client, it reloads the whole mail client instead of just the folder.
  3. The http://darkprophecykinship.guildportal.com/Mail/Cms/addins/facebox/closelabel.gif and http://darkprophecykinship.guildportal.com/Mail/Cms/addins/facebox/loading.gif images are missing.

Hello!  There shouldn't have been any data loss at all in this -- the changes affected only the UI and none of the back-end data.  Is it possible that you accidentally selected them all with the checkbox in the upper left corner and clicked delete?

After looking at it, it seems I missed putting a confirmation dialog in there to make sure.

Update: Found the problem, pushing a fix shortly!

Should be possible; will look into it.

Skinning can't be done with it just yet, unfortunately.  The splitters, the grid, all that stuff is like the Wysiwyg editor.  I mean it could, if it loaded by default inside a guild page, but one of the reasons it was pulled out and made to open in its own dialog when clicked from one of the nav areas was to make it so that people who are members of guilds that had removed the mail tab could still work with mail (happens a lot).

As for the messages waiting indicator, good catch.  The waiting count is cached with your session state and needed to be manually reset by the mail UI.  It will work after the next code push, but I'd like to avoid doing any more pushes tonight.

Scratch my last response -- found the problem, and will be pushing a fix for it shortly (messages waiting count will go along with it).

Thanks...   ((And yeah, I know I didn't delete them all accidentally since it happened to several of my other friends... ))

Though, the time is all wrong again on mails.  It was working before I know, now it's several hours off (and my timezone is set correctly in settings).
