On our site http://demonshield.guildportal.com the banner wont center on the page. It keeps sitting off to the right by about 10 %.

Have re uploaded it, gone through every centering tick box and border or padding option I can find saving, changing and saving again and it is still doing it.

Is this some kind of bug?

You've got a setting on your banner somewhere which is adding 50 pixel margin on the left.

Try using the following CSS:

img.guildbanner { margin: 0px; )

That didn't work.

tried entering it into the full custom css and it screwed up the style for the whole site. (moment of panic). So i tried using the tool to insert elements and it put in

.BannerArea {  border-left: 0px solid black; }


That centered the banner but left the rest if the site style still screwed up.

Tried putting that into the 'CSS additions to standard'  instead. That put the rest of the CSS back for the rest of the site (panic over), but the image was back off to the right again.

Fixed it. (well probably bodged it, but it works so I am happy)

Found this tool to show me what was going on.

It did not show the 50 pixel left margin but it did show me that putting stuff in the 'CSS Additions to standard' was doing something.

So I added a left margin of -50 to compensate for the +50 coming form 'somewhere' and it worked:

.BannerArea {  margin-left: -50px;   margin-bottom: -10px;    margin-top: -9px;}

Put int a top and bottom minus value while I was it it as a little tweak.


Thanks for the help though. It gave me something else to try playing around with.

I don't know if you figured out the issue or not, though it centers fine when I viewed it under IE and Firefox. Are you using a different type of browser that it shows up off center on?

EDIT: LOL! Nevermind, I typed this out as you were responding.

Although I did notice this while looking at your CSS with Firefly:

.BannerArea {
    margin-bottom: 10px;
    margin-top: 10px;
    text-align: center;
}
img.GuildBanner {
    margin-left: 50px;
}

When I read your response on how you had to negate those values, I thought I'd post this info. And maybe if it's something on GP's side, maybe they could correct it.
