I've been thinking about how it might be possible to have guilds be able to use multiple games (as promised) and I finally had an idea...

What if:-
1. There was the current option to set the entire site to one game as a default BUT which could be set to none as well. If set to one game it overrides everything else, if set to none it doesn't - similar to the way the css works
2. Then, either 1) certain content types that are game dependant (vaults, banks, rosters, news etc) could be set to choose a particular game - I set up a page, put in a roster and set to DAoC and a second and set that to Horizons OR 2)have tick boxes for which game characters are assossciated with on the roster and allow a menu filter (ties in with Arathel's thoughts on main/alts roster) with an additional filter by game
3. If 1) Then allow these game-specific contents to be added multiple times but using different settings...

This would:-
Allow single game guilds to take the easy option of setting the whole site to one game
Allow multiple game guilds to use the same content types multiple times with different settings on the one site

In addition, if this kind of directing could be worked out, the same principle could be used for the split forums some of us asked for before among other things.

At the moment, the only way to do this is have two sites. Whilst personally I don't object to paying for two if the need arises, this also means having two domains, two log in lists etc. If it were a service only available to subscriber guilds, the number of people currently paying for more than one site to do this, might be offset by the number of people who would pay to have this facility instead, but with a much smoother and more user-friendly system

Disclaimer: I'm not a programmer. I just have ideas.
Not all of them are good ones...

Personaly I like the Freedom Offered by having multiple sites for multiple games in the same guild. The Allience Feature allows me to share out all the Pertinent Info to the child Sites/Sub Guilds. It also lets me get member counts on each.

Having done this as a single site before on my own my guild masters and there staff like the ability to have there own pages, forums, news and what not all customized to there game.

I think it allows me to control what i need to control while giving them the freedom to do what they want. If you want to see how im doing it you can see it here and ask the admins how they like it over the old systems

TO.guildportal.com (Parent Site)

TOCL.guildportal.com
TORA.guildportal.com
TOFPS.guildportal.com

In General its worth every penny and the reduced headaches i used to go thru...

I do understand that some people prefer this... hence the 'override by setting default option' I suggested.. so guilds who are doing as you are would still have that option. But we don't have lots of admins - we just have me. And I'd prefer to have an option to integrate everything. Having done a poll of my members, this is what they want too.

If we were a big guild I'd agree.
But we're not. If we went down this route with all four games it would be a severe case of too many chiefs and not enough indians. lol
Not all guilds are or want to be enormous with hundreds of members. Some of us prefer small guilds but play more than one game.
