Hi there!


Unfortunately we cannot play all the games we support, sometimes we miss things that are important to some games.  Any help you can give us is great, specifically, we're wondering what we're missing along these lines:
  • Areas of the game.  The zones listed when you are adding or viewing an event, etc.  What's not there that should be?
  • Classes/races.  What's been added that's missing?  What's named incorrectly?
  • Roster stuff.  What should be displayed that isn't?  What's displayed that doesn't really matter to anybody and should be removed to make room for more important data?
  • Content types.  Are there any types of content that you consistently feel the need for, that is specific to your game, that you would like to see added?

There is one topic like this for each of the games we host, at least the top several, and they are stickied in the Feature Requests forum.  Please, if you would, post only in the one that's specific to your game.  We're trying to clean house before we add some things people have been asking for for a long time now, so your help is very appreciated!

Request: Champions Online Server Status widget

Can be found at top of http://champions-online.com/frontpage

I sent a message to Diamonds (the Cryptic web person for the Champions Online website) and asked how to get the server status onto our guild's website. He sent me the information below and permission for me to pass this information along.

XML-RPC call to server: http://www.champions-online.com/xmlrpc.php

The function name is wgsLauncher.getServerStatus

This goes a bit beyond my web coding ability and knowledge, so if there's anything else that's needed, I can try to relay the question to Diamonds.

Looking to get a widget that'd show server status.

Hi Stygian!

I might be able to help, but not with the information you provided. I'm not sure what to do with it. If you click on the link it gives a message about it only accepting posts. What do I need to post to it? Knowing the function name is good, but how am I supposed to call it from the URL? What I'm used to seeing is something like this:
http://www.champions-online.com/xmlrpc.php?getServerStatus (but this doesn't work)
I'm still learning php, so maybe there is something I'm missing. *shrug*

Also, I don't know how many servers there are... is there just one? When I see server is up, that's what I'm guessing.

There's just one server.

I can relay any questions to Diamonds though. Do you need me to relay the post question? That's just the information they sent me, so I'm not sure if the information was complete due to not knowing PHP.

After a lot of hair pulling and help from Diamonds, I got the server status working. YAY! Check out the instructions on how to add it to your site here.
