What would it take to make it so that the indiviual guilds who have linked forums can pick the order that they appear on their websites? As of right now it seem to alphabetize them and with my allied links section it ends up putting forums that are pretty trivial at the top and the important ones fall at the bottom. Anyway to allow us to order allies forums on our websites?

just an idea, no idea if it will work as we have no alliance forums onour site... but could the alliance forums be put into its own catagory,so they would all appear together. You could then name the catagorysomething starting with z to make it appear at the bottom.

Well I have 3 websites all the same guild but 1 is a EQL Solusek Ro group 1 is a EQL Firiona Vie group the other is a EQ2 Lucan Group. We are all the same guild but I host the independant sections as seperate websites. I have one section of forums that are Guild Wide Forums and so are linked from the Original Site (sol ro) to the others. Then I have Game wide forums (such as class forums and tradskill forums) that link between firiona and solusek. All three websites share colors and themes and the forums have been designed to be as smooth as possible on the parent site but once I link them to the other sites they get scrambled. For instance our Guild wide forums appear as a catagory at the top of each websites forums but on the sister sites Bbun's Pub our roleplaying forum appears at the top instead of the Outcry which is our Guild Wide main communication channel. So I have on the parent channel a setup like this...

Guild Wide Forums:

  • Warrios' Caste Outcry
  • Good Times
  • Bad Times
  • Real Life Forum
  • Bbun's Pub

And that is the way I want it on all the websites but the sister sites look like this.

Guild Wide Forums:

  • Bad Times
  • Bbun's Pub
  • Good Times
  • Real Life
  • WC Outcry

Of course I changed the forum names in this example but as you can see it distorts the level of importance that each of the forums should have in that category. If I could control the Forums location on each site that would solve my problem or even if they would mirror the order that was given on the parent site the problem would be fixed as well.

If they're coming out in alphabetical order instead of the order you prefer, you could rename them something like this:

  • 1. Warrios' Caste Outcry
  • 2. Good Times
  • 3. Bad Times
  • 4. Real Life Forum
  • 5. Bbun's Pub
  • The numbers would force your order. It's not an ideal solution, but it should get you through the feature freeze until Aaron gets back from his trip and can start looking at feature requests again.

Did you actually check to see if the display order on the forums aren't all set to 0? It tends to sort alphabetically when all have the same sort order.

Well they are linked from my main website and so on the sister sites it has greyed out the forums listing number so I have no control where it goes. But with that said I guess I personally no longer need the fix after all. With Sony merging the hampster powered Sol Ro (our server) with Bristlebane we decided to go ahead and pull out of EQL and no longer have a guild there so now we only have one website the EQ2 Lucan branch. We moved all our forums there and no longer have to tie multiple website forums together. But you might still want to work on this in case we branch again in the future or if some one else decides to do their multi-game guilds like we did.
