I was thinking that it would be really nice to have a better image gallery. Something more of a gallery type setup with comments etc. And more available to members to post etc.

What we have now is pretty generic, simple and just isnt the greatest for an image gallery. There really isnt a gallery view, just list view with categorized links.  

My guild personally would like to have something better for Screenshots and also Members Photos etc.

What does everyone else think?

I totaly agree, I know nothing about html, and I know such is possible with that knowledge.  But I use guild protal becuase its awesome for someone like me who doesnt understand code.  A gallery that members can easily post their own pics would be very cool.

I've put together an image gallery that will display a thumbnail and when clicked will enlarge it and force all pics to a certein px size that can be changed, also you add a caption.  I like the idea about the comments and I think ill add that later, not to sure about letting just anyone add pics to the gallery though as mine is in a public area.  I cant post the code for the page here so send me an email at Freakymeat@gmail.com and ill mail you the code

Yes I also agree with this threads point, it is time for a new content that displays images, the current "Random Categorized Image" content does not do the trick, although it is great if you have a collection of thumbnails but still pointless as there is already a separate "Random Thumbnail" content that you can add to a page.

Personally I feel a Photo book style of content that can be added and is exactly like the "Random Categorized Image" but functions with forward and backward buttons below the caption, these would allow a viewer to scroll through a websites categorized images with out having to look through the list for a particular one, and if sized properly it would allow for both which would work well together. Hell you could even make it possible to patch in images for the 2 different buttons, using the control console.

Please add this Aaron, people need it including me.

I have partially solved the problem by creating Photoshop web galleries and inserting them into a freeform HTML container on our site.  You can take a look at what I mean here.  Of course, you need Photoshop to create the gallery, and that's not cheap software.

I haven't finished converting the rest of our pictures over to galleries yet, but my guildies like the new galleries much better than the old.  Within Photoshop, you have a choice of selecting several different gallery styles and can even include an option so guildies can post comments.

It would be nice though if GP would have a more user-friendly and attractive gallery option.

Gawll, I clicked on your link and it took me to a blank page, and said I must be logged in at the top, is your gallery only accessible to site members?

Same here. I only got a blank page.

By the way Mattenon, awesome photosite. I like the thumbnails on the left and images on the right. One day I will be able to do that.....but not today.

I have no problem with this i just tell everyone to set up a Photobucket acount Photobucket.COM just up load you rpis to it and then to put it on guild portal just copy and paste
