Becoming Adept!
Let me know what you think I should do to improve.  This is my first website ever and I feel like I'm missing some elements that make a good site great. Let me know what you think!

Hrm, weird.  The url was correct in the link.  I don't know what happened.  I removed the bbc from the link so it's just the address.

I really like it overall, very well put together and easy on the eyes.

Here's my notes:
- Is there any way to have the movie NOT start when the page is refreshed?
- In your banner, I'd make "Six Feet Under" just a little bigger, it almost gets lost with the nice horizon.

If you really feel like getting crazy, maybe you should have that red glow that appears in your banner be part of a mouseover affect for your Nav Bar buttons? That would be a neat touch and tie your banner and Nav Bar together. It's easy, and Sir Mottie has it all laid out in this post.

Awesome, Kaysi, thank you very much for the suggestions.  Yes, I changed the movie to play automatically when you visit the site, but after numerous hours of working on the page, having to refresh every few minutes, and having to hit the pause button as well each time, it's getting rather annoying.  I'll definitely be changing that.

I think I'll take your advice with the banner as well.  I thought the "Six Feet Under" was a bit small, but now that I have a second opinion (which is hard to find, no one seems to want to be a critic, lol) I know I was right.  I'll tinker with the outer glow effect with the nav bar... those were looking a little plain, I must say.

Thanks again, Kaysi, for the advice and the much needed second opinion.  Really helped a lot.

Hi Hellborn,

I agree with Kaysi, bigger title!

I'd also think about adding the "Copyright notice" you have in a box on every page into the footer. That way you're not putting it into a content box... it just kind of fades into the background then 

Otherwise I think it's looking good.

Hey Mottie, thanks for the suggestion.  I'm trying to do as you said and put the disclaimer/copyright into a footer but I'm having a problem.

Every time I hit save the text I input into the footer disappears.  Never saves.  I always end up with a blank sheet after I hit save.  Not sure what the problem is or even if you know.

I did some updating to my nav as well.  Added a little hover glow and a selected glow to add a little something to it as well as making the test in the banner bigger.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, and let me know if there's anything I can do about the footer problem.

The Footer is kind of weird...

Don't use the "Page Footer Text" in the control panel, instead use "Footer"

When you add stuff into the footer, you MUST have
$block[boilerplate]
somewhere in there before you check the "Enable" box and then "Save Changes".
