Hi Nikitch77!

I'm not sure if favicons will work when the image isn't in the root directory. Here is some reference info, but it couldn't hurt to try...

Add the following to your header or footer area code (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Banner Area or Footer Area).

If you have an ICO type icon (works in all browsers), then use this code:
<link type="image/x-icon" href="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/######/myFavicon.ico" rel="icon" />
or if you have a PNG type image (which doesn't work in IE), use this code:
<link type="image/png" href="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/######/myFavicon.png" rel="icon">
or if you have a GIF type image (which also doesn't work in IE), use this code:
<link type="image/gif" href="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/######/myFavicon.gif" rel="icon">

I used the first option, but it still doesn't seem to work with IE8

<link type="image/x-icon" href="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/397606/favicon.ico" rel="icon" />

It's not the end of the world, but it would still be nice if we could get it working

One sure-fire way to get it working... stop using IE8

Honestly, if people are worried about a favicon not working in IE8, find a new hobby!

That being said... try the following (copied from here), if it still doesn't work, seriously get a new browser:
  1. Make sure the file is a valid icon file. There are files floating around that have the extension .ico but are not valid icon files. And there are problems (i think) if you convert bmp, jpg, jpeg or gif images to icon files.
  2. Name the file exactly as "favicon.ico" with out the double quotes.
  3. IE8 will never display the icon if the file is on your hard disk. It has to be on the internet. Other browers such as firefox will however show the icon even if they are on your hard disk.
  4. IE8 will not show the icon if u do not have the www in your url address. So
    • http://yoursitename.com will not work.
    • http://www.yousitename.com will work.
  5. IE8 downloads the favicon.ico file in the folder - C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files, where user = the name with which u logged in windos xp.

Just tossing this in here... If you have a png or jpg or some other format image file and need it converted to ico, there's a great online tool (free) here: www.converticon.com
