Hi Everyone.. just looking for some input here.. I'm not great at HTML code.. and know enough about CSS to be dangerous.. A couple things I'm wondering.. Does anyone know the absolute values for the image sizes for the box border images? I just finished up the header and buttons of our site.. and now the rest is looking kinda drab in comparison.. Because we have both Night and Light formed as one guild.. I'd like to have the left side look a little more cheery, and the right side a little more dark, but I have no idea how to accomplish that.. Any suggestions you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated!.. I know my way around Photoshop etc.. and I'm not afraid of doing a little work to get the right results.

Check it out here and let me know what you could suggest??

Tx all.

Eil.

OMFG those buttons are awesome! (banner uber too)

As for the rest of site, i'd do a custom box border, personally i havethe set on my site, might not be bad for yours, except change the yelloto purple or something.

here is url to site, if you got any comments lemme knowwww.albionscrusaders.active.ws/ (i use a url-director,  thats okayright???)

I like those Box images.. I may swipe them off of ya =P.. The buttons on the site took a lot of trial and error to get them to look right.. I really wish there was a way to remove the spaces all together and have them attached to the header, but I couldn't figure out a way in the CSS to do that.. I set all the spacing on them to 0px. but the spaces were still there.. Even if there was a way to use custom HTML for the button section, I could easily create a set of sliced images to make it a solid bar that fit with the header..

Any other suggestions appreciated

Honestly I think the effect you have with the buttons spaced looks much nicer than a solid bar would, I really like the look alot.

So long as we're on the subject of box borders, is there a specific size that the componants for the border images need to be? Also how many of those pieces do I really need to make?

Well.. As long as you set up the HTML table properly, then you couldhave any image size you want.. The minimum number of images wouldbe  8 for a full box effect, but you could do a border with say 4images using the top left corner, top side, and left side for a frame, then another image in the bottom right corner to visually give you abox as your eyes would fill in the other two corners and sides.

For the minimum.. basically set up a 3x3 table I would recommend makingthe corners no bigger than about 10px x 10px For a very simpleborder.  Now the way that I've set mine up is to have 8"Background Images" this is the basic box that you're looking for.. forthe sides you want to make sure that all of your background images willrepeat side by side seamlessly. If you want to add a little effect, like I did on my site with having the gradiant on the left and rightsides.. I created an image that was about 10px x 50px and placed thoseimages in the left and right sides of the table and aligned them to thetop.. basically makeing sure that they all line up up with eachother..I find the simplest way to create them is to make a 200x150px Photoshopdocument to make the entire border, then use the image slicer to createthe individual images.. this ensures that all of the images line upproperly when they are put together in the table..

After all that just host your images, and make sure your table links to them properly and you are off to the races..

I'm going to be re-doing the ones that are on my site now withsomething a little more fitting to the style of my headder andbuttons.. I'm thinking a single line black or gold frame with adecorative corner in the top left, and bottom right corners, and havingsome sort of image fade out away from the corner making it look like apicture frame with all my content inside of it.. I'm going to be usinga fixed background in the actual content area that does not repeat..Hopefully I will get the effect I'm looking for, and I'll post hereonce it's updated so the people reading this scratching their headssaying WTF will see what I meen (I didn't really understand whatI just typed either)

Anyhow.. I'm off to work on that now.

Tx again guys for your input.

Thanks alot, that helped me a great deal, I'm hoping to make the box borders similar to the borders used in the EQ2 UI with perhaps more decorative tops and then mabe a parchment like background for the content boxes. Still scratching my head over what to do with the buttons though.
