I am not an HTML expert, hence why I use Guild Portal.  But they way I got around this was to create a Seamless background from a picture.  It doesnt mean you have to have a drab simple background, I used a World Of Warcraft Picture, and then used Paintshop Pro 9's built in plugin to create a seamless picture.  The way it merged and arranged the picture to make it seamless is really rather clever.  If you want to see what I mean, check out our guild background

Modified CSS for the Body class of the background.

BODY { SCROLLBAR-BASE-COLOR: #000000; SCROLLBAR-ARROW-COLOR: #ffffff; BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url('IMAGE URL HERE'); BACKGROUND-REPEAT: no-repeat; BACKGROUND-ATTACHMENT: fixed; BACKGROUND-POSITION: center bottom; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; }

This "anchors" the background in place. it wont move when you scroll
Here's an example.

this looks interesting, would you happen to know if the image scales according to resolution?   So would it be best to have a large image (say 1600x1200) to ensure no pixelisation at lower res, or a smaller image 800x600 that would fit almost any modern monitor and scale up to the larger resolutions?

 I'd really like to do this. unfortunatly when i try, the script won't fit in the feild.  Only about half of it will fit, is there something im missing?  Seems like only so many characters will fit in the feild. ;(

heres my site (http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=87706&TabID=754086)
what am i doing wrong?

Thanks for posting the code, but can you tell us how to get the picture to stretch across the screen please?

I seem to have gotten this to work but the refrest rate is so long I have a black back ground for a few sec's before the image updates every time I change tabs.

I'll try and host the image else where and see if it refreshs faster.

I hope this isn't do the the size of my image.  Had to make it big to fit the screen.

OK, I'm using this code and only this code in my Customize something or another page.  Could you tell me what I need to do to get the boxes back?  I really like the way this is, but it's also really hard to read.  Here's my site for you to take a gander at: http://theironbrigade.guildportal.com

thanks again everyone!
