If you are meaning something like the scrolling text on my page (link in signature), use this HTML:

<MARQUEE width=100% scrollamount=" 6 ">SCROLLING TEXT HERE</MARQUEE>

Width changes the width of the area scrolled and the scrollamount changes the speed at which it scrolls.

Can you link your page?  It helps to see whats going on.  Also do you have a free page or a paid version (makes a difference with regards to the banner area).

As for programs, I use photoshop.  The banner on my page was done in Adobe After Effects though

When you place the html code for your banner into the custom banner area, what is the rest of the code you are using to display the banner?  Try this (this is assuming you want the scrolling marquee to be right beneath the banner):

<img src="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/199456/199456.png"><br>
<MARQUEE width=100% scrollamount=" 6 ">SCROLLING TEXT HERE</MARQUEE>

Also, what server stats are you trying to use?  If you are given html code, make sure you click the little blue <> at the bottom of the editor window and then paste your code in.  Otherwise, all you will see is the actual code.

If you have a paid account, just go into the file manager in your  control panel.

If not, use a site like photobucket, box.net or similar.

Thank you so much Dealla for the marquee info!! One more question concerning this - are you able to add color to it? or change it's font size? again, thx for sharing your ideas here!

font-size and color should work for that.

<marquee width=100% scrollamount=" 6 " font-size="8pt" color="red">SCROLLING TEXT HERE</marquee>

You can use hex colors if you prefer, you'd have a wider range of colors via hex.

Or better yet, you can add the marquee to your custom stylesheet (if you're using one) and style it there instead. html code should always be lowercased for xhtml 4.0 strict compliancy.
