A few questions...

1. ive got this problem with a little sliver of background inside the widget body that isnt there.. and ive chalked it up to thats how the theme came and was designed or whatever, but after a while its starting to get on my nerves.

here's a picture of what im talking about.. is there a way i can get it to cover all of it?

2. Also, i wanted to know if there is a reason why the Information Widget is acting funny.

Ok what i mean is on the old site, when you selected a document from the Information Widget, it would pop up its own little mini window (like a whole new browser but without all the browser tools like forward, backwards, bookmarks, the http search window, etc.) instead of in the Information widget on the page (like it is now on the new site) which pushes all the other widgets down to make room for that information widget.

this link takes you to the sites Library page (where the Information widget is located).

3. I used Mottie's Access Level Popups growl code for a information popup instead of access levels, and it worked, but its really hard to see. I was wondering if there is a way to make it look like the theme design and possibly in the center of the page? Its just a help how to use the site since some of our members are still quite computer illiterate but the pop up is on a timer so they wont have to be annoyed with it forever XD... anywho so yea, custom design to match the theme and possibly darker (not so faded) and not in the top right corner.

4. Also with the Access Level popup the free form widget i used, i used Mottie's coding to hide the "empty" widget, and its worked on all the other widgets ive used it on, but this one doesnt want to work. heres the code:

5. Our banner on our site is said to be centered but its not.. its more to the right than anything.. is there a way i can move it to the left a little? site is www.candaraguardians.gplegions.com (just enter from the splash page).

6. Ok this should be the last one, for now. On our medals page we have people (inclusing myself) who has a TON of medals... is there anything i can do to either condense them or anything???? because some people if they get one more medal its going to make a new row.... i like uniform and things that connect and coordinate (im a slight anal retentive perfectionist )

??? OH and while im thinking about it, does anyone know of a site to upload a mp3 to? i wanna place a small theme music onto the splash page but i cant think of where to upload one to... maybe into the guild's files but i wanted to save that for other things...

Here are your simple answers
  1. Background sliver
    The theme you have seems to be a bit messed up on defining it's left side background widths. The easiest solution, would be to add this CSS (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard tab).

    .blkbgl { background-color: #000 !important; }

  2. Information Widget
    This may be something Aaron will have to help you with.

  3. Popup
    If you want to restyle the popup (Growl), check out this post. I wouldn't recommend centering it on the page because it pops up on every page reload and if you want your users to hate you, then I will provide you the code to reposition it to the middle.

  4. Hidden Widget
    The widget you have with the user access level code doesn't have all of the "hide this widget" code. I posted below what I found which is missing the most important part... so just replace the code you see below with the full code:

  5. Center Banner
    Oddly in the css is a 50px margin added to the left side of the banner image. So, simple solution, add this CSS to your custom css (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard tab)

    img.GuildBanner { margin: 0 !important; }

  6. Medals
    There is no simple solution for this question. I'd still like your opinion on how to display all of the medals. If they were all added to a tooltip, it could possibly be too tall to fit on the page (if you wanted medal descriptions and full size images shown). If there was a "medal icon" that the user had to click to open a popup window, it might be better, but then it's not as convenient to see who has what medal. So, how would you style it?

  7. Mp3 site
    I can't think of a site that allows you to upload an mp3 with direct access. The Guild Files will accept mp3, but I think you are limited to 2 or 3 Mb (I can't remember exactly). The next best solution I think would be to upload your music to YouTube, then use this post to add the music to your background.

    ok ill look into the custom tools for the growl, and well it doesnt have to be the middle but maybe the left corner instead of the right? i love the slide out menu i have but i think since i dont use the right side for widgets (if u have the ads cause u are using the free gp site host, then if u dont have the widgets in the right side, they do not pop up unless u enter edit page mode...) i was going to see about moving it to the right side for a slide out menu instead of the left so that i can expand the existing widgets to the left..

  7. Medals
    As for the medals, if u look there are some people who have a TON of medals, it would be nice if maybe there was only one medal next to their name that is a link that would pop up a display to show their medals that they have been awarded and info and stuff like that (im going to refer to it as the medal-link). Then as they received more and more medals that one medal-link would change designs, kinda like how when u post and under ur name in a post it displays the medal(s) for the rank. Here ill show u what i mean

Ok so here we have the roster list, and if u look at my character (Moranna) u can clearly see that i have MANY medals.

And then when u click on someones name, this page pops up. (btw yes that is my actual character page). It shows a list of all the medals, and hey thats fine, because what im talking about is on the ROSTER not an individual character profile page.

Also it would be nice that if you actually looked up someones profile and looked at all their achievements, it would be nice if there was a tab for medals as well to list in a downward list like the achievements are. (yes i used ur profile mottie only because mine doesnt have any achievements, yet.. i havent entered em into the site system yet )

ahhh here we go, this is what im talking about. this is just a snipit of the roster picture for just my name... i made the gif to show that the medal next to my name would change as my medal count would increase. now when the number that someone reaches a medal to get the roster link changed would depend on what the admin sets, just like with how many posts it takes to get to a certain rank in the forums and such. and unfortunately the gif doesnt show it but the medal (thats changing depending on how many the person has, the medal-link as i refer to it as) would be a link that when clicked, would take u to a list pop up that displays all the medals a person has been awarded.



So does that make sense? i hope it does, i tend to get confusing because i get confused

i tried using ur youtube as background music help to put some theme music on my splash page. Now i know u said that the widget can not be hidden and thats fine but i dont want the frame style around the welcome image and stuff...

anywho im not sure if i got it right or not cause i hear no sound... did i do something wrong? i bet i did! the site is www.candaraguardians.gplegions.com

ALSO ive not figured out why, but my avatar for when i post on the forum on my site (as well as all my members, so i know its the site not me) are not showing. i tried ur view/hide feature but that didnt help. i tried un-selecting the show feature, didnt work. tried re-selecting it and didnt work either. is there something wrong in the coding some wheres? because its showing up here on the help site but not on my site when it also used to on the old site... what gives?

  • Information Widget
    Aaron is the owner/developer of GuildPortal. He's the one that answers support tickets which is what you need to put in for this information widget problem you are having since I can't fix it for you.

  • Popup
    You can move the Growl popup to the left side by adding this css to your custom css (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard tab)

    #growlDock { left: 10px; }

  • Hidden Widget
    The code I posted is what I found, which is wrong. It needs to be replaced by the code you originally posted.

  • Mp3 on the Welcome Page
    Oh, I didn't know you wanted it on your welcome page. In that case you need to add the you tube embed code inside the Welcome page code (inside the "splashBox" div, like after the Enter image).

  • Medals
    Ok I may be able to do the medal link, but changing code in the profile pop up window would be a real PITA for me to work out. So your best bet for that would be to submit a feature request. Please give me some time to work on it.. I have a lot of things to do and this really isn't on the top of my list =(.

Generally it seems like these HTML codes are sensive if adding blanks, or tabs after the code.

    hmmm its still not working... i tried to use one i uploaded but aparently it didnt stay uploaded (prolly my crappy inet) so i tried using someone else's that had an embed link but thats not working either... imma try a few different tactics first before i give up

    • Edit: I got it to work, youtube has created a new embedding code for their sites, but they still have a selection to choose the old coding and that is what i had to do. so fyi u might wanna mention that on ur help site just to help keep the confusion down with others ^.^

  • Medals
    Well it being on the profile thing was just a suggestion, i really am just wanting something done with whats on the roster. and i know its prolly going to be a pain in the tookus for u and im sorry... and i wish it was at the top of ur list cause id like to get that one done and taken care of and im sure others would as well but i know u got ur priorities and i will not push

lol ty aranoxx i had found the full code i was looking for i must of some how deleted part of it when i was shifting code around. this is what happens when i work on the site when im tired... of course right now im actually typing with my eyes closed... yea im that tired but im that dedicated

i put it on the site and it looks fabulous! ty sooooo much mottie... i really dont know what i would have done with the site if u hadnt had some spectacular ideas and know ur coding!!! <3
