Mail Notification v6
by Mottie
Description
This mod opens a popup to notify you if you have a new mail message. It was written for users who wish to hide their top menu bar (state bar/log in bar). Or if you just want a bigger message telling you that you have mail. I've set it up to open either a growl window (timed popup) or a facebox (popup you have to close).
For more information on the custom variables, please see
this post
.
To style the growl window (pictured above), use the "Growl Window Styling" Mod or refer to
this post
.
To style the Facebox popup window, please refer to

Does anyone know how you can show thumb nail galleries of the image categories that members have created and linked their pics into?
I'd really like to make it nice and easy for members to link the pics themselves, rather than relying on external sites (such as Flickr etc) / embedded pages.
Is this a feature that you have access to if you subscribe?
EDIT: Ahh, looks like its auto generated when enough pics are linked into the categories. Now I just have to figure out how to get that full thumbnail gallery to always show in the Image gallery page.
Any ideas anyone? Guildportal doesnt allow embedding its own pages

GOT IT!!! I'M A NOVICE AT ALL THIS, BUT I THINK I'M MAKING HEADWAY...
An easy way for a thumbnail gallery!
Just view the source code for the image gallery (the random cycling pics one) and grab the details for the hyperlink for the full gallery.
It will start with: ContentControls/Support/FullGallery.aspx......
Then create an "Embedded page" box, paste in the link in and set the size to about 1000.
Voila!
Hmm, I do like the feature on the random gallery where you can click and the pic opens in a new window though.
EDIT: I've also managed to rip the "EDIT" button coding from the random Image Gallery, allowing me to place it on my images page without the need for the random gallery itself:
<input class=adminButton ="ddrivetip('<div class=tooltipheader>Open Editor</div>You have administrative rights to this type of content. Click the button to open the editor for it.', '', '300');" style="MARGIN-TOP: 5px" onclick="javascript: window.open('CExplorer/exDlgContentEditor.aspx?Group=281980&ContentInstance=9145781', 'Edit9145781', 'width=540,height=465,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,status=yes');" =hideddrivetip() type=button value="Click to Add<br>Images" body <><br><br><br>

Hi Tarkadahl!
I'm glad you're figuring this out. I've never had the chance to mess with the built in galleries. Only bad thing, when I go to look at what you've done, all I see is a black background... I guess it's set up for members only.

Hi Mottie,
As you know, it is linking to the full gallery so you have to be a member of the site and logged in.
However in theory someone can do it on ANY guildportal site and view it if they have have a site member access.
I just created an "Embedded Page" box and pasted the link for the full gallery link into it:
ContentControls/Support/FullGallery.aspx?GuildID=281980&TabID=2365975
<obviously the GuildID and TabID numbers vary from one guildportal site to another>.
Is there anyway of controlling the size of the pictures that are being shown in the full gallery?
Embedding the page doesn't allow you to adjust it in any way.
And there's no way of editting the full gallery page either.
The random image gallery uses a popup window, which is cool. But it only deals with the most recent images, none of the others.
The Full Gallery generates the thumbnail galleries, which is great, but I want the Full Gallery on a Images main page, not as a link.
The solution I have allows me to have the thumbnail gallery on a main page, and it works to a fashion. But its not perfect :)
Basically, what I'm trying to achieve is as follows:
* Create an auto generated thumbnail gallery using the Images links that people add in the usual way.
* When a user clicks on a thumbnail I'd like to either show the pics but dictate a maximum size to show them at, or use the guildportal popup window (whichever is possible, both have advantages).
If you can think of a better way of auto generating a thumbnail gallery using the links in the Image Gallery, and allow it to be displayed on a main page, then I'd be really grateful

I am trying to make my scrolling galley have larger pictures.
If you have achieved that in some form I would appreciate noob steps on how you did that please.

Hi Tarkadahl,
There is no way to control items inside an embedded page. This is mostly for security reasons - you don't want someone embedding your bank's web page on a site and being able to access your account information, do you?
The other problem is I could get the image links from the gallery list, but it could only then display those images on that same page.... I wouldn't be able to write something that will work across tabs on your site (e.g. read info from one page to display on another).
So, honestly your best solution would be to use an image gallery you define and that you will have to manually update... take a look
at this one I modified
(it will support any size image). Other than that, you could revert to using a Flickr or Photobucket slide show. I actually think Flickr is nice because members could just e-mail an image to your Flickr account directly and it will update.
