Becoming Adept!

Hi everyone

I'm the default webmaster for our guild (because, I'm the only one that seems to have an idea of what I'm doing, well for the most part)

In essence I'm using the tools the guild portals has given me (I used a template and the like) though I'm ok with Photoshop (Look at my Logo & Icons) but I have a few questions... I'm hoping someone here can help me out.


1) I don’t like the way the Forum and News areas look, my main issue is that there are no dividers between news events/forum posts.

Anyone have any idea how to fix it?

2) How do I link to player’s mail boxes from my Officers List? I’m using a HTML box right now (HTML is the only web language I have any experience with). I used an HTML box because I wanted to separate the officers (You will see what I mean)

Anyone have an idea how I can make the names links to their mailboxes on the page?

3) Is there any way to have more then one news window? I was thinking about making a news window for World of Warcraft News & Guild News sections, but I have no idea how I would do it.

4) Anyone have any ideas how I can improve the page?

You have to create forum groups to serperate them, you can also use graphics as dividers

 In control Panel, Go to site pages, click on Home, click Add content, and from the Drop down ( content type) choose Officer contact list, it will automatically list officers from your members listing, and the officers name is a link to mail that particular person, it also lists Site admins, even if they arent an in game officer.

3) Is there any way to have more then one news window? I was thinking about making a news window for World of Warcraft News & Guild News sections, but I have no idea how I would do it.

You can have as many news boxes as you want , just add the content


4) Anyone have any ideas how I can improve the page?

Humm sorry I thought I had a link to my site as part of my sigP My Bad

Now on to responses to questions

1) Ok I have forum groups.. I guess what I meant was divide the posts on each topic (kind of like how this message board ha a line between each post) Now if its about adding a graphic, that’s cool, I can do that. But what/how do I make it show up between each post?

2) I used the Officer list at 1st, the problem is I can't edit the window at all, If you take a look at my site you will see I have two "Levels" of officers in my guild. The Warlords, which are like the main officers, and the Stone Guard, which are the class leaders.

3) Hum I was under the impression that if you added to the news box, all the news boxes in the page would show the same content. I will give it a shot and see what happens

4) Opps.. see above

Yep

  Downloaded it and read it after I opend the site...  the issue is I'm using a custom CSS (Used one the pages uploaded by other members, I liked the way that paged looked.. well most of the way it looks) 

  So I want to set up alteranting backgrounds for topics and the like, but the settings will not work because I'm using the CSS.. if I dont use the CSS I lose the look I likeP

  Again, I know HTML, thats about it.  CSS is like... well my eyes bleed...

2. the only option GP gives is the autocreate from members list, create your own if you need different options
