Mail Notification v6
by Mottie
Description
This mod opens a popup to notify you if you have a new mail message. It was written for users who wish to hide their top menu bar (state bar/log in bar). Or if you just want a bigger message telling you that you have mail. I've set it up to open either a growl window (timed popup) or a facebox (popup you have to close).
For more information on the custom variables, please see
this post
.
To style the growl window (pictured above), use the "Growl Window Styling" Mod or refer to
this post
.
To style the Facebox popup window, please refer to

Signup Status Color v5
by Mottie
Description
This mod will add CSS classes to the character status, so you can set the color yourself with the CSS and the script will do the rest. Within the script, you can set it to just color the Status column or the entire row. This is what it will look like:
*Note: this is an old screenshot, but the code still works

Getting Started!
Here's the site. It has a white background so that you can see the images more clearly (black baground)
http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=185126&TabID=1565341
The problems with it are obvious. Here they are though if you can't spot them:
-The right top doesn't connect with the top right corner, leaving a gap.
-Both the bottom left and right corners drop down too low, beyond the bottom filler.
-The bottom filler seems to run on too long, making it double back for another row underneath it that shouldn't be there.
I think it has something to do with the size of the top left corner being too big, but I don't know how to fix it. I've spent countless hours on it. So, I'm hoping someone can simply fix it for me and provide the images so I can set it up properly. Here's to hopin'.
Thanks in advance anyone who can help.

The top left, top background, top extend, and top right all have to be the same height.
The bottom left, background, and right all have to be the same height.
The Top Left, First Left, Left Background, and bottom left all have to be the same width.
The Top Right, first right, right background and bottom right all have to be the same width.
The Left and Right backgrounds should only be 1px tall unless you have some sort of pattern.
The top and bottom backgrounds should only be 1px wide unless you have some sort of pattern.
To fix the issue with your top left corner, cut it into 2 images. One that is the top portion at the same height as the rest of your top images. The other that is the remainder, use that as your First Left image.
Those changes should get you pretty close.

Download fixed images here!
You really should get photoshop and learn how to manipulate images if you plan on periodically changing the look of your website.
Please post and let me know how they worked out.

Glad I could help!
If you want to learn how to fix them yourself, drop me a line.
First you'll need to get a copy of photoshop though, its the only image editing software that I am familiar enough with to teach someone how to use it. Fixing them is pretty simple once you learn.
ETA: I just checked out your site, and it seems to be shaping up.

Fingers of Fury!
Rosary - I'm completely new to this border idea (GP in general) and I do have access to photoshop.
Could you please give me a general guide as to how I can put this together? (Your help is much appreciated!)
For example:
Where do I start? Where can I find good images of borders (Can't seem to find these with google).
Am I supposed to make the entire border first in photoshop and then divide it up? How big should it be?
Thank you very much!

Start by drawing in photoshop the box as you want it to appear on your web site.
Once you have the box drawn, it is just a matter of splicing it up. Splicing it up is just a mater of getting 9 pieces and making sure they are all sized correctly.
All of the top pieces have to be the same height.
All of the bottom pieces have to be the same height.
All of the left pieces have to be the same width.
All of the right pieces have to be the same width.
All of the non-corner pieces will repeat. So if you want to use a solid style border, the Left and Right middle pieces only need to be 1px tall. The Top and Bottom middle pieces only need to be 1px wide. And the middle middle piece only needs to be 1px by 1px. If you want to use a patterned border, you can make them larger.
You can bump it up to 11 pieces if you want to add a little more complexity, but if you are just starting out, try to figure it out with 9 first.

Borders are difficult to come by, drawing them in photoshop yourself isn't the easiest but its what you'll need to do unless you can find some that have a free for use tag and aren't copyrighted. Try clipart sites, scrapbooking sites, or search for border clipart.
You'll want to build the entire square first, all in one piece and then cut it up.
The easiest way to cut them up is to put grid lines where you want the cuts to be made and then jump to image ready and slice them. I used
this tutorial
which was really easy - only difference is when you save them, you don't need the html, so choose images only.
