WoW Wrath Fansite Kit
This is the Offical WoW Fansite Kit. It has buttons, frames, textures and screenshots for use with WoW fansites.

Many game companies release these kits and bury them somewhere on their website. Do a search for *Game* fansite kit and you should find them. Just watch out for bundled viruses and keyloggers and don't download from sketchy sites.

For instance, a google search for *City of Heros fansite kit* reveals: City of Heros Official Fansite Kit

Older fansite kits are usually removed from the Official sites, but can be found on file archive sites like Filefront: Original WoW Fansite Kit

These are generally high quality art, already set up and and easy way to start up a gaming site.

Don't neglect looking up previous titles either, these can also be a great source.

I've been meaning to ask you, how are you making your animated GIF files?

WoW Model Viewer export an animated GIF function is broken (at least my version is). So, are you exporting it as a video, then converting that into a GIF?

I stopped messing around with it because it was painful. I can't remember which program I was using to convert the video to images, but I had to grab all the individual images and then load them into GIF animator. I ended up with a huge GIF file and a lot more work if I had to tweak something in the original.

I'm using WoW Model viewer but I do have to use a trick on exports. I tried putting a picture background behind it with blech results. Plain color backgrounds seem ok. But, as far as getting a transparent gif, I've found I have to click the transparency button off and on to get it to work before I save it. Try toggling it and see what happens.

Oh, what I was saying, or what I meant to say is that any animated GIF I export is just blank. All the frames are there, they are just blank.

I'll try that transparency trick the next time I mess around with it

Hope you got the model viewer working Like most free Apps, it can be a bit touchy feely =x

I've been messing with some forum icons. Here is the download area and the results.Vhale's Deviant Art Download Page

This is a set of forum icons using various WoW interface objects. The package contains:
12 sets in .png format (No matting so they will work on any color background)
2 sizes; 64x64 and 25x25 pixels
28 icons each - 14 unique.
The PSD file is included as well as an additional Lock icon that I did not use in the full set.
There is also an action script that I used to save an export the PNGs after turning on the ring I wanted. The save folder would have to be altered to work.

All art created on a Mac with Photoshop CS3.

The picture below is a composite showing 1 each color and 1 entire set plus the two additional lock icons. The last two lock icons exist in the psd file but I did not export them with each set as I decided they didn't reduce well.

For you PSD junkies, each ring is a layer style that can easily be altered to another shape.

IT'S ALIVE!
I was erasing some very old discs and ran across an old Sig.
This was made via the EQ Pixel Army Doll machine. An amazing resource that contained nearly every peice of armor and color in EQ at the time it was produced. Last time I saw it, it had been maliciously hacked. Someone was trying to restore but had not been able to get in touch with the owner.

It's back online

Content Box Test Page

I have noticed a really nice leaf border on web pages for awhile. It finally dawned on me exactly what it was. It's ripped from the War3 interface UI. Ah HAH!
So I popped open War3 and checked out the interface. There are 4, the expansion did not have a new one. Horde. Human. Night Elf. Undead. I picked out the horde as the cleanest and easiest to adapt and decided to try to make it fit a GP content theme.

This is the page I'll be using for my endeavors. At present, I think I have a lot to learn about how the content borders fit the frame so I can figure out exactly how I need to create the art. Especially since I prefer using transparency so the borders could be applied to any color background page. I hate tying up the background color.

Also, most of the borders are a fairly large tile. To really have them look good, it looks like the height on each box would have to be specified exactly. Otherwise, clipping here we come!
