Becoming Adept!

Try not to laugh at me!

I just started messing with websites, and whatnot two days ago, and I have no prior experience.

So I'm trying to add a progression box, and I copy/pasted Motties WoTLK version code into my CSS box in the control panel, it gave me an error that reads as follows:

The provided CSS contains invalid characters, such as HTML mark-up, that are not valid for Cascading Style Sheet. Please modify your code, removing any mark-up before submitting.

So I guess my question is, what is mark-up, and how do I remove it?

Hi Korosa!

Copy the code for the progression box into a "free form text/HTML" box... if you copy it into the "Custom StyleSheet" you'll get that error. Here are a few examples of the differences between codes.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheet)
.SomeClassName { background: #000000; }
#SomeOtherClass { border: #ffcc00 1px solid; }

HTML (HyperText Markup Language aka mark-up)
<div class="SomeClassName">Blah Blah Blah</div>
<table id="SomeOtherClass"><tr><td><img src="mypix.jpg"></td></tr></table>
Javascript
for (j=0;j<myarray.length;j++) {
 (myarray[j]);
}

If you look at the source code, you'll notice that CSS is ALWAYS surrounds with this HTML... <style type="text/css"> .... </style>

and javascript is surrounded by this HTML.... <script type="text/javascript"> .... </script>

So make sure you're putting the code in the right place.

My path:
   Home>Control Panel>Site Pages>Home>Content

Right Content Box
Dropdown to free form text/html
Titled Progression

Pasted the code and saved, however the box is not there, instead it just added the code to my home page.

What am I doing wrong?

When you pasted the code into the box, did you right click inside the box and select "Paste As Html"? or you can click on the HTML mode icon () in the bottom left corner, then paste the code.

Please post a link to your site if that doesn't work, so I can see what's going on.

Hey Mottie,

Is there any way to change the Instance Status color (the area where is says "farm")?  Right now it's a really light gray and i would like to make that brighter.

Thanks,

Kyloc

Oops sorry, I guess I missed that one... add this to the CSS
#dhtmltooltip table { color:#ffffff; }
Original post updated.

Quick question.
When I mouse over the Progression boxes, the window pop UP and I need it to pop DOWN for visibility.
What do I need to change?
Thanks!

Hi Freckle_7!

Well, the popup window position is dependent on where it is on the screen. So I'm guessing if the content box is near the bottom of your web page, the popup will move up on the page. I don't think you can easily control the positioning without a lot of coding.

I didn't see where this box was on your site, so I think the best easy fix would be to move the content box higher up on the page or add a content box below it.

I've just added the progression box to my website (thanks for the script Mottie ) and it generally works well, just a few problems I can't seem to figure out.

I've altered all the details to suit my guild and for Naxx it works perfectly. However OS and Vault are not. When I mouse over the icons for these instances it says we have killed the boss however it hasn't crossed the boss out like it has for Naxx, the colour of the word 'killed' is also different (white not red like it is for Naxx). Also, it hasn't updated from 0/1 for OS and Vault, but again it did for Naxx.

Any ideas on what I need to change?
