Ummmmm yeah, somehow jQuery was removed - correction, moved to the bottom of the page where it doesn't get seen... so everything that uses jQuery is now currently broken... don't ask me what's up with that.

Totally agree there. I'm not a Webpage guru by any means, but just a cursory glance at the jQuery site indicates that it should be placed at the <head> section, not at the bottom of the page, where all the scripts that will try to use it have already attempted, failed, and therefore won't execute...

A partial, (and rather hack-ish) solution to this is to force loading of jQuery on our own scripts before it's used, by including it at the very beginning of the HTML box or custom code area. I would suggest to place it at the top of the 'banner' if possible. At any rate it should be placed as 'early' in the page as possible - namely the more to the 'top' and 'left' you can, the better.

Include at the very least the first line, (the main jQuery library): (note that the initial opening bracket from the script tag has been removed to allow posting)
script src="Cms/jquery-latest.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

potentially, depending on what are you doing in your code, it may require also some of the other lines as well:
script src="Cms/addins/jquery.query-1.2.3.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/addins/facebox/facebox.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/jquery_filterable-1_0_min_js.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/jquery.growl.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/jquery.watermark.pack.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="dtips.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

This is only a partial solution and will NOT work in all cases.
Specifically, it will most likely not work with stuff at the banner and Tabs areas, or if you have a 'Splash' page, if you have fancy code there, or the results may look 'choppy'.
Furthermore, it will technically force a double load of the library, however, this should be somewhat minimized by the cache, as the library is loaded from the same place in GP anyway.

But it should help restore most functionality to your site.

If you do this, once GP fixes that by placing the scripts where they should be.. you should remove this 'hack'.

Becoming Adept!

What's the proper channel to report these problems? I tried submitting a ticket about it, but I don't know if it's going to do any good. If someone could post a link on here, we could all let them know we're displeased with the fact we're paying for a website that's broken. Squeeky wheel gets the grease if you know what I mean.

I can confirm that ICEHEARTS suggestion DOES work if you create a Custom HTML banner and stick the coding into it.   It has fixed our shout box HOWEVER, the "image gallery" problems still remain, the images still cascade down the right hand side of the home page.

If you aren't doing anything fancy with custom CSS sheets (cos I don't know what the effect will be by doing this with CSS sheets):

1)  Open your sites control panel, and open up "Styles and Colours"->"Page Style"->"Banner Area"->"Custom HTML"

2)  Create a replica of your banner.
For example:  If your banner is simply nothing more than an image then use the code:

img src=URL_ADDRESS>

URL_ADDRESS = where you are keeping your banner image.
Remember to put a < sign in FRONT of the word "img" (I had to omit it to stop these forums from arguing with me about html coding).

3)  Then copy ICEHEARTS bit in green and paste it immediately after the code for your banner (the full amount is shown below):
script src="Cms/jquery-latest.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/addins/jquery.query-1.2.3.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/addins/facebox/facebox.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/jquery_filterable-1_0_min_js.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/jquery.growl.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="Cms/jquery.watermark.pack.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
script src="dtips.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
4)  Then edit it by putting a < sign IMMEDIATELY BEFORE every instance of the words "script src=".

5)  Put a tick in the box for enabling it and then save the custom html.  Now just refresh the pages of your browser.

6)  When GP finally get round to sorting the issue, you can revert back to your original banner, by just removing the "Enable" tick found on the Custom HTML section and save the settings.  Job done

Jan 15, 09Fixing problem with jQuery reference repositioning to bottom of pages, which is causing some trouble with some user scripts, and also the shout box.

That's from the control panel and yes, the shout box now works but all the other problems still remain.

Custom RSS feeds, User Applications (member management) and Image Gallery are the main 3 right now for most, as well as the type of custom banner some are using.

Wouldn't mind an estimate on a fix off guildportal, as my lovely site is blowing chunks right now without these features.

it looks like the people who made the scripts that are used on guildportal released an update a couple of days ago.  Perhaps this new version is whats causing the issues.

Everyone is having similar issues.  I'm sure that they know about the issue by now.  All the javascript functions are screwed right now.  My post "bandaids" SOME of the issues, but not all.

Btw, you're Members List and and Control Panel aren't working because those options also require Javascript.  Whereas your page links don't.

For some reason, that particular issue is only happening to some, not others.

I just hope that its fixed before the end of the day.

Anyhoo, I agree, we need an official response to this asap

Btw, for those you CAN'T get into their Control Panel.  GP have posted the following message:

This is also detailed in the Service Updates list to the right hand side of this window.
