Forum Module - Wowhead

This module allows site users that don't know HTML to add a link to wowhead which includes the item quality color.

Here is a screen shot of the popup window

Adding this to your site

Copythe code below and ideally paste it into a free form text/HTML box onyour forum page, but it can be put anywhere like your header HTML,footer HTML or Footer.
<script type="text/javascript">
// Add any custom variables here
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/258012/mod-wowhead.js"></script>
Customizing
  • This part of the module is automatically enabled, but can be disabled by adding the following inside the <script> tags above.
    var addWowhead= false;
  • "Name" (required) - Enter the name of the item, spell, quest, achievement, etc here. It will become the link that you hover or click on to go to the wowhead site.
  • "Wowhead Link" (required) - Enter the URL to wowhead here. Example below:
    http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19019
  • "Item Quality" (optional) - Pick the item quality from the drop down box. It defaults to "None"

Forum Module - Popups v1.2

The tooltip portion of the forum module popups had to be updated to work with the new jQuery tooltips currently being used by GuildPortal. This module has also been made to work with the New and Improved Tooltips that I just posted about - allowing you to assign a specific size, background color and font color to each tooltip. Please update your tooltip script along with this updated forum module.

I'll modify it later to work with the "preview" and "screenshot" tooltip classes.

Updating your Module
  • If you haven't installed any modules before, please follow the instructions from the original post (which I also plan on updating with this information)

  • If you are updating, then remove the link to the old version 1.1 (mod-popups-v1-1.js) and replace it with this new version:

    <script src="http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/258012/mod-popups-v1-2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Customizing
  • Please check out the original post for updates. I thought it would be easier to keep the information all in one place instead of spread out all over one thread.

thanks!  This is really spicing up my forums!

Quick questions - what are these modules for?

Growl

Facebox

Also, in the show/hide is it possible to show/hide an actual picture and not a link?

Hi Shikarzar!

Here are examples I made in my forums using the modules, then I copied and pasted it here for you to see... I did have to modify the growl box because it was set up for the modified growl version.

Hi Mottie, with the new editor out (Status Update, 7/6/2009), these wonderful forum modules are not showing up any longer.

Mottie, are those standard syndication scripts from wowhead?  If they are I can work on plugging them into the editor's new dialog.  If they're something you put together, I'd need your permission to integrate them into the editor directly.

Would be really great to see wowhead integrated directly into the editor

Hi Aaron!

I just back from vacation and wow LOL... the wowhead code is just something I threw together. You have my permission to use ANY of the code I've written, you could probably do better though

Oh, and it would be nice if you could update the loot system, it seems wowdigger no longer exists, but you can obtain all of the necessary item information from the wowhead site via XML, just add "&xml" to the end of the item name (e.g. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45484&xml). I used this method to make the latest loot box, but it tends to use up the bandwidth of the free php site relaying the xml data. If you could get the GP to work with wowhead it would be great. I know you frown on gold seller sites, but it really is the best site for information out there right now... I bet you could just make your own tooltips from the information the XML gives
