Hi Mgard73!

Are you sure the "Enabled?" check box for the custom css is checked? I'm not sure where that red border is coming from...  :/

Yep, it's enabled, I added the red border just to show kind of where it's not changing. Also, we also have some other code in CSS Addtions:

<!--     FORUM IMAGE SCALING/POPUP       -->
<style type="text/css">
.MessageBodyCell1 img {
 max-height: 500px;
 max-width: 600px;
 cursor: pointer;
}
</style>
<notallowed type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
 $( ".MessageBodyCell1 img" ).not('.MessageSignature img').each(function(){
  $( this ).bind ("click",function(){ jQuery.facebox({ image: $( this ).attr("src")});});
 });
});
</notallowed>

<!--
********************************************
Add this to your code box
(in a free form text/HTML type content box).
It will hide itself
********************************************
-->
<div class="hideThisWidget"></div>
<notallowed type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
 $('.hideThisWidget').closest('.gpWidget').hide();
})
</notallowed>

<!--     SHOUT LINKS      -->
<style>
.shoutBody {
  padding: 0 0 10px 20px; /* top right bottom left padding */
}
.shoutWithImage .shoutBody {
  min-height: 54px;
}
.shoutWithImage .shoutBody img {
  max-width: 50px;
  max-height: 50px;
  float: right;
  padding: 2px;
}
.scrollableShout {
  height: 300px; /* adjust the shout box height here */
  display: block;
  overflow-y: auto;
}
</style>
<notallowed src="/GuildFiles/258012/shout-images.js"></notallowed>
<notallowed>
$(window).load(function(){
  var shoutScrollable = false;
  shoutImages(shoutScrollable);
});
</notallowed>

Is there a specific way I may need to format it all to allow the quote box code? I am a completely CSS newb, but trying to learn! heh

Oh that's in the css additions? CSS additions should only contain css, that code has HTML and javascript in it.

Remove everything inside the css addtions and add this back:
/* FORUM IMAGE SCALING/POPUP */
.MessageBodyCell1 img {
 max-height: 500px;
 max-width: 600px;
 cursor: pointer;
}

/* SHOUT LINKS */
.shoutBody {
  padding: 0 0 10px 20px; /* top right bottom left padding */
}
.shoutWithImage .shoutBody {
  min-height: 54px;
}
.shoutWithImage .shoutBody img {
  max-width: 50px;
  max-height: 50px;
  float: right;
  padding: 2px;
}
.scrollableShout {
  height: 300px; /* adjust the shout box height here */
  display: block;
  overflow-y: auto;
}
If you need to include the HTML and code, then it should be added to a Free Form Text/HTML widget while it is in <> HTML mode.

If I use the auto install, it works great in both forums and in mail. But if I put the text in the css area so I can use my own quote images and colors it works fantastic in the forums, but no go with the mail. How can I get both to work?

Hi Savatage!

That is because the mail quotes needs a bit of jQuery lovin'... the mod has the code, and you should be able to just change the css in the custom code section. Or you could just add the mail quotes code found here.

That fixed it, thanks as always!

Hey Mottie,

I tried both of the codes and got them to work but neither is quite what I'm looking for.

I very much like the look of the basic quote box but want to change the background to black and the outline to white. Can you help me out with that?

Hi DarkThoughts!

Is the basic quote box the second one?... anyway the colors are highlighted in blue, so all you need to do is change that to change the background and border colors to your liking.

I had actually tried to follow the instructions from the original post previously but couldn't get the backgrounds to change color. I went back and discovered that the string didn't like the color codes that I had used. After putting in different codes, I got it to work fine. Thanks again for your efforts on all this.
