Hi CandaraQueen!

Sorry I didn't spend much time yesterday on GP  :P
  • The page background image you linked hosted in the GP file area should work, I'm not sure where you are getting stuck? Did you try pasting that image url in the control panel (Control Panel > Style Tools > General Style Settings > Background tab > Image URL)?
  • On your splash page, just change the height of the top div (size in red) to a smaller number, that will reduce the gap above the Welcome message:
<div style="height: 200px;"></div>
  • To make your tab disappear, add this custom css (just for your site) to your custom css (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard)
#stabsCell3273971 { display: none; }
  • The ticker at the top of the GP home page is a custom script, I'll have to get back to you on that one... It's be easiest to just use the script that that page is using, so give me some time to look at it.

Hi Mottie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok well i guess i cant pm you so it looks like im stuck using this >.< oh wells.
  • I know how to add it like that but what i was trying to get at is when i try to upload it, it wont upload into the database. i know there was enough space i guess it just wasnt meant to be
  • On the splash page, it worked perfectly, ty ^.^
  • Disappearing tab? Check! Worked ty again ^.^
  • No rush on the ticker at the top, i was just curious.

I do have a few more requests tho... im such a pain i know XD

  • Is there a way i can add a scrolling method to the Medal Winners widget?
  • The scrolling on the News Widget didnt work.. i tried to make the widget box smaller (so it doesnt extend the page and pushed the photo down) but still allowed all the info to be displayed. Any ideas? for what im talking about just go to www.candaraguardians.guildportal.com and its on the first page past the splash.
  • I know i saw it somewhere on ur help site but now i cant find it, but is there a way i can condense the medals on the roster? Like a link that says "Medals Awarded" and when u hover over the link it would display the medals that, that particular member has received? well honestly it doesnt have to be that but anything would be appreciated.
  • While on the topic of medals, is there a way that when someone joins the site (and has been approved) that they are automatically awarded with a medal?
  • Is there a way i can implement the same theory of the WoW database search widget but not using WoW but RoM since that is the game this site is for? RoM database is www.runesdatabase.com
  • Ok this is the biggie... i love the design and display of how the tabs looks (the image itself) but is there a way to have instead of a top row of the tabs (example: Home, Roster, Calendar, Mail, etc.) to be on the left side of the page? Not in the left widget section (like how there is left, center and right) but like on the actual SIDE of the page?
  • Now i used Shulkie and ur scrolling shoutbox idea and i love it, but i have an up arrow and a down arrow i would like to use instead of where it says "Scroll Up|Down", i tried to do it myself from the instructions on ur help site but it either made the scroll go away or it really wonked everything, so u have an idea how i might go about fixing this?
  • And lastly i had kind of just a generic question. I was looking at your toolbar v1.01 on ur site and i love it! Good work! um.. ok back to the question.. now before i go and start fiddling with that i had a few questions, can u add any widget to it? is it possible to change the color or even the look of it, or is it only allowed to be the black/gray bar?
Well i think thats it for now... i really wish i could just pm u or something than clogging this one lil ol thread, but i dont have that authority :/ Mkay well thanks for ALL ur help

EDIT: Oh i forgot to ask, u know the little black bar thats got all the different things u can do like ur username, profile, logout, control panel, member admin, etc. is it possible to change the look of it from just a plain black bar to like the border that u have here???? or if not, is it possible to put these different tasks down to your toolbar that u created? thanks

Hi CandaraQueen!

Hmm, well I can help with some of your questions:
  • what i was trying to get at is when i try to upload it, it wont upload into the database

I'm a bit confused, are you saying you can't upload it to your guild portal files? How big is the image? If it is over 3mb, then you might want to open it in photoshop and turn down the image quality.

  • Is there a way i can add a scrolling method to the Medal Winners widget?

    Actually, after looking closer at your theme, it wasn't set up to work with the css I provided, so all you need to do is add this bit of javascript to your custom sections (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom Javascript/JQuery > Document Ready Event tab).
    $('.gpWidget-recentmedals, .gpWidget-newslrg').find('.blkContent').wrapInner('<div class="blkContent"/>');
    This code will also make your News widget work as well. Now you just need the CSS added (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard)
    .gpWidget-recentmedals .blkContent {
        height: 100px;
        overflow-y: auto;
        padding-right: 5px;
    }
  • The scrolling on the News Widget didnt work..

    The javascript code above will fix it

  • I know i saw it somewhere on ur help site but now i cant find it, but is there a way i can condense the medals on the roster?

    I don't think I've ever written something to condense the medals, but I did have a script to add a tooltip to the medal. Is that want you wanted? Or did you really want all of the medals inside the tooltip?

  • is there a way that when someone joins the site (and has been approved) that they are automatically awarded with a medal?

    This is something I can't do with javascript, you'll have to put in a feature request. Just in case you didn't know, I don't work for GP, I'm just another GP user like you

  • Is there a way i can implement the same theory of the WoW database search widget...

    Done - RoM Search box

  • tabs ... be on the left side of the page?

    Check out this side sliding menu, just follow the directions on that site. If you get stuck somewhere with it, just hollar at me Oh and you can then hide your current tab bar using this CSS (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard)
    .tCenter { display: none; }
  • i have an up arrow and a down arrow i would like to use instead

    Ok, recopy the code from this post for the scrolling shout box, then add this css to your custom css (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard). You might also consider adding the mousewheel scroll, I have in the post just after the one I linked above.
    .gpWidget-shout .scrollup {
     color: transparent;
     background: url(http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa219/Widow-Of-D00m/forum_top.png) no-repeat;
     width: 24px;
     height: 24px;
     display: inline-block;
     cursor: pointer;
    }
    .gpWidget-shout .scrolldown {
     color: transparent;
     background: url(http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa219/Widow-Of-D00m/forum_bottom.png) no-repeat;
     width: 24px;
     height: 24px;
     display: inline-block;
     cursor: pointer;
    }
  • toolbar v1.01

    The toolbar is designed so you can pretty much add anything you want to it. If you have a specific question about a widget I would be more than happy to help you out!... as for the toolbar colors, near the bottom of the post, there is a section on changing the background color of the toolbar as well.

  • the little black bar thats got all the different things u can do like ur username, profile, logout...

    The top bar just to be called the "State Bar", but now I think it's just the top menu. Anyway you can find the post in my instructions widget in "Hiding/Modifying elements > Moving the State Bar", or here is a direct link to it. Also these links can be moved into the toolbar if you desire, see the bottom of the "Adding Components > Link/Code > Popup" section (link to post) on how to add a mini tab popup.

    Hi Mottie!

    • Background Image Size

    Yes i think its a little over 3mb ill try and resize it later when i have some more time

  • Actually, after looking closer at your theme, it wasn't set up to work with the css I provided, so all you need to do is add this bit of javascript to your custom sections (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom Javascript/JQuery > Document Ready Event tab).

        height: 100px;
        overflow-y: auto;
        padding-right: 5px;
    }
  • Well i did exactly as u said and the recent medals widget worked with the scrolling but the news one is still not working. i might need to try and make it smaller or something, ill tinker with it
    • I don't think I've ever written something to condense the medals, but I did have a script to add a tooltip to the medal. Is that want you wanted? Or did you really want all of the medals inside the tooltip?
        i tried the following instructions, and again, didnt work (i really think maybe there is something wrong with me LOL) but i was wanting more like on the Roster page for it to be like: Name>Profile Details>Link for Medals. The link for medals would be like when u hover over the link it would display however many medals that person would have. Some people have alot of medals and it tends to take up alot of room so it would be an easier way to display as well as inform what they are for.

    • Rom search box looks WONDERFUL! *huggles*

    • tabs ... be on the left side of the page?

      I am going to have to work on this one, ty for the link and the hidden code
    • i have an up arrow and a down arrow i would like to use instead

      Ok, recopy the code from this post for the scrolling shout box, then add this css to your custom css (Control Panel > Custom HTML & Script > Custom CSS > CSS Additions to Standard). You might also consider adding the mousewheel scroll, I have in the post just after the one I linked above.

       width: 24px;
       height: 24px;
       display: inline-block;
       cursor: pointer;
      }
      .gpWidget-shout .scrolldown {
       color: transparent;
       background: url(http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa219/Widow-Of-D00m/forum_bottom.png) no-repeat;
       width: 24px;
       height: 24px;
       display: inline-block;
       cursor: pointer;
      }
                Ok with this one, yea i did exactly what u said and still didnt work, in fact it took away the scrolling all together
    • toolbar v1.01

      Im sure i will have questions on this, but ill ask them when they come up, thanks

    • State Bar: moved, ty!!!!

    u know with all the help that u give to ppl, u really should come in a pocket size compact or like for those with iphones come as an app..... "MottieApp!" or "MiniMottie!" That would be so kool! X3 i wish i could like talk to u directly that way when i do something ur right there because i know im doing something wrong >.< but then again if i had that ability that means others would too... "Mottie: Here 24/7 for all ur CSS/HTML/BS needs!" u would be a busy busy busy Mottie...

    Hi CandaraQueen!

    Sorry there's no app for that LOL

    I'm usually available around 4pm-ish central time. If you need help with something you can use the GP Chat or messaging (though I'm not constantly on the GP site) or just e-mail me at wowmotty at gmail dot com and I can help you on vent (info on the left side of this screen if you need to talk).

    • but the news one is still not working

    It's just missing the CSS I gave you from a previous post:
    .gpWidget-newslrg .blkContent {
        height: 350px;
        overflow-y: auto;
        overflow-x: hidden; /* this line may not be necessary, unless a horizontal scroll bar appears */
        padding-right: 5px;
    }
    • The link for medals would be like when u hover over the link it would display however many medals that person would have. Some people have alot of medals

      The problem with putting all of the medals in a tooltip would be dealing with the image. I think it would look pretty ugly if all the tooltip contained was a comma separated list of medals. Once you start adding images, how do I deal with someone that has 30 medals, the tooltip would scroll off the page. Hmmm, what if the medals showed up in a facebox popup (click me
      Facebox YAY!
      This is a facebox popup!
      )? See this post for instructions. What do you think?
    • in fact it took away the scrolling all together { from the shout box }

      Oops, this was my fault, I used quotes instead of apostrophes... just replace the code (again) from this post, sorry

    Hello again

    • The link for medals would be like when u hover over the link it would display however many medals that person would have. Some people have alot of medals

    This would work just fine and here is the code (from ur site) that i would like to use but i looked all over and no where does it say where i should place such a lovely code XD
    <span ="ddrivetip('<div class=tooltipheader>HEADER</div>Blah blah blah... put info here', '', '300');" ="hideddrivetip()">
    <img src="http://admins.guildportal.com/Faces/face_grin.gif">
    </span>

    Also i wanted to make sure i did the code right with my information so please check this out and see if it is or not. ty
    <span ="ddrivetip('<div class=tooltipheader>Guild Leader</div>This is for achieving Guild Leader status.', '', '300');" ="hideddrivetip()">
    <img src="http://candaraguardians.guildportal.com/Layout2006/CP/Awards/Star%20Set%202/award_star_gold_2.png">
    </span>
    • in fact it took away the scrolling all together { from the shout box }

      That is the link i used. when it stopped working i got rid of all the old ones and then replaced it again with that code and its still not working.. i wonder if there is a code somewhere that i entered for something else thats overriding it... hmmmm

    Hi CandaraQueen!

    • I'm sorry I sent you to a very old topic and the code you have shouldn't be used. Get the updated method from this post.

    • It appears you are trying to make your own medals? I'm not sure why you'd need to do this, but this is what the updated code should look like, using your example:
    <span class="tooltip" title="<div class=tooltipheader>Guild Leader</div>This is for achieving Guild Leader Status'><img src="http://candaraguardians.guildportal.com/Layout2006/CP/Awards/Star%20Set%202/award_star_gold_2.png"></span>
    • For the shout box scrolling, it appears that the <script type="text/javascript"> and </script> was included in the code that went into the custom jQuery section. All of these HTML tags need to be removed because it is causing an error.
