Hold up there! 

Why is this being touched (potentially messed up) again?  The welcome letter is already going out via Guildportal email (on the site) - as previously requested.  I just tested it yesterday, adding a test account and then approving it on my normal account.  It worked just fine.

As an admin, I have not tested it as an officer but, again, it worked perfectly when I approved the member myself.  I logged back into the test account and the welcome email was waiting.

It took awhile to get this working right, so I'm a little leery of it being broken again by messing with it...

It's being revisited because as outlined in my previous posting, it appears not to be working for all.  In that posting have tried to outline quite clearly the steps and method used to test in an effort to help highlight where the problem occurs.

Aaargh!  Sorry Wolfe, I thought this had been fixed.  -sigh-  It is apparently still broken.

Aaron, new members automatically get the welcome letter if I (as admin) open their profile and set their access to member or above.  They do NOT get the welcome letter if I click the "Approve All Applicants" button OR if an officer selects the "approve as member" option.

For sure new members DO NOT GET AN EMAIL but they do get a system message.

Would REALLY like to see them get BOTH.

As the release of Guild Wars 2 is near, we'll be looking to ramp up our recruiting soon, so sorry for nagging, but wondering if there is any update on this issue?

The way the officers (with "Approve/Reject Apps" admin rights) go about accepting an applicant is this:
  1. Clicks on "New Apps (#)" which appears on their menu (# = number of new applicants)
  2. Clicks on an applicant's login name
  3. Views their submission and decides to accept them
  4. Selects "Approval as Member"

I would have expected at the point of Step-4, to have had the Welcome Letter added to the applicant's GP-mail inbox.  So they'd get both a "access upgraded" message AND the guild's defined welcome letter.


Ugh, yet another bug, posted 5 months ago that has not been addressed or resolved.  The quote above was reported on July 5.  On July 11, I reported the following:

Aaron, new members automatically get the welcome letter if I (as admin) open their profile and set their access to member or above.  They do NOT get the welcome letter if I click the "Approve All Applicants" button OR if an officer selects the "approve as member" option.

I tested this today and the problem has not been addressed.  If I (the SuperAdmin) promote an applicant to associate on our site, they get a mail message like they are supposed to:



I tried doing the same thing while logged in as an officer:



When I clicked "approve as associate" or "approve as member", the new applicant did not receive ANY mail message:



Please make fixing this a priority.
