A Raid Progression content type is now available.  To start, only WoW data for expansions, instances and encounters (bosses) has been entered.  This is almost entirely due to the provision of said data (and even the idea for the content type itself) by Mottie.  Thanks, Mottie!

However, the upshot is that you can add custom expansions, instances, and bosses yourself.  To add it to your guild site, click Control Panel -> Site Pages -> Manage Pages, then click the name of a page (or select content next to it), and then Add Content.  From the drop-down, select Progression.

Also, in your blogs, you'll find a new selector for "Wall."  It's likely very familiar what it's for.  Think Facebook, but specifically for you and your guild mates.  Another new content type is on the horizon, based around the status updates entered on walls.

Hi Aaron!

It's looks great! However I do have some things I want to point out and suggest, I can't help it! It's my OCD!
  • Anyway to have the latest category open up as a default view?
  • The order of the instances and bosses within each is important, the last two categories are alphabetized as are the bosses within.
  • Some guilds don't do 25 man content or don't bother with 10 man content, can you add a way to turn this off?
  • We all like counters to show how much we have progressed through an area, if the content box doesn't calculate it, could you add a way for the user to just enter a number? Something like "(5/10)".
  • Can you let people delete the main categories? Some guilds don't bother with the older content (Original or Burning Crusade).
  • Can you remove the "Icecrown Citadel" since it's really just a placeholder and not something in game as yet.
  • You could potentially use this same template for other games like EQ2... I didn't check but could you add this too? or a blank template?
  • Lastly, the whole thing seems kind of laggy =(

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem.  But I put in some of our raid progression with the new update to GP.  I click on the raid content but it won't show, it pops up and closes right away.  If I'm doing something wrong please let me know.

Hi Aaron!

Did you change something in the jQuery script file last night?

Some of the scripts that were working are broken now. And in IE8 I'm getting an error saying Access Denied in line 13 of http://www.guildportal.com/cms/jquery-132-ui-172.js

Heya,

Hmmm... Maybe -- do you have a link to a site that throws the error?

OK, found it on the Help Site forums.  From what I'm reading, it looks like IE (perhaps in an auto-patch very recently) has decided that accessing the contents of an IFrame is a terrible thing to do.

I walked up the IE script debugger stack trace about 4 steps and saw the calling line, which was:

var root = $('iframe').contents();

Using the console, I ran the line by itself against the DOM and confirmed that it was the line throwing the access denied exception, then I tried:

var root = $('iframe').html();

And that returned "undefined."  So then I did plain:

var root = $('iframe');

And that also returned "undefined," so that leads me to believe that it's more of the calling .contents() on an object that isn't loaded into the DOM yet (or won't be at all) than something specific to IFrames.  But then, I don't know why .contents() would throw it while .html() would not...

This any help at all?

I'm still having a problem with the new update to GP with the raid progression.  I click on the raid content for each instance but it won't stay showing, it pops up and closes right away. I don't recieve any error with it.  Here is the link to our webpage: http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=276177&TabID=2318001&PageName=Home  Raid progression is at the top of the page.

Thanks for looking into this Aaron!

Well I guess I can't inject a style sheet or the tooltip script into the iframe of the forum editor anymore... could you look into letting us pick other skins for the editor? Pretty please? *puppy dog eyes*

Is there anything I can do to fix the problem with IE?

Also I would suggest instead of each boss then 10/25 man.  I would split 10 and 25 man. Then list each boss.  Here is an example for ToC:

10 Man
Anub'arak
Faction Champions
Lord Jaraxxus
Northrend Beasts
Twin Val'kyr

25 Man
Anub'arak
Faction Champions
Lord Jaraxxus
Northrend Beasts
Twin Val'kyr

They added a new boss lately to Vault of Archavon that's missing from this: Koralon the Flame Watcher.
Available in 10 and 25man modes.

Also I agree with everything Mottie said above, some more customization please
Some of those changes could make this really cool feature even more cool!

Cheers,
Gavendo
