Hello Aaron

I know you just got back from Cambodia, but we had a little emergency arrive.  Well, not really an emergency except for me, as I'm the one constantly being bombarded by the members

Here's the thing.  Our new guild rank and promotion system goes live in 2 weeks.  Part of that promotion system is that members have to earn so many Participation Points on the website to become eligible for certain promotions.

I can see the Participation points just fine in the Member list, but they bugging me for some way that they can view their own Participation points and keep track of their progress.

Is there anyway you could give us a mini-content type that would do this?  All we'd need is for it to list their Login name in 1 column, and their participation points value in a 2nd column.  (I was thinking it would be a side item).

It would also work doing the same kind of thing the current Tradeskills content box does.  Or heck, even just adding a column on the current guild Roster so people can see it there.

Any idea if this could be done?

PS.  Check out what I did to the website while you were in Cambodia

Which reminds me!  I dont' know if you saw my post yet or not.  But please lord tell me there might be a way to link two pages together so that people only have to fill out 1 application instead of 2

If you are going to look into this, it might be a good time to try and also implement the auto ranking system we once discussed.  It has been requested in this thread but here's the details.  Some guilds (like Emerald Dragons apparently) award ranks based upon Participation Points.  We award some medals based upon Participation Points and others based upon Raid points.  At the moment, I have to periodically go down both lists and award those medals manually.  Here's an example of how we award Participation medals:

25 points = Activity Medal 4th class
50 points = Activity Medal 3rd class
100 ponts = Activity Medal 2nd class
etc....

Members only have one Activity Medal, so a member with 49 Activity points has the 4th class medal.  When he hits 50 Participation points, that medal is replaced by the Activity Medal 3rd class.

Since Participation Points and Raid Points are tracked by Guildportal, I'd like to see an addition the Medals editor in which we'd be given an option to have a medal awarded for a certain number of Raid Points, Participation Points or both and the option to remove the medal when another point total was hit.  This could be done automatically with an occasional query or a button provided for admins to click to run the query.

Such a system would allow guilds like mine to award medals automatically and others, like Emerald Dragons, to "award" a symbol denoting rank automically.

Heya Arouin and Cosmic,

A participation points listing is doable as a stand-alone content type, no problem.

As for auto-awarding medals based upon participation, the only problemthat comes into play is this: what happens when an admin resetsparticipation ratings (as many do regularly, as a way of "leveling thefield" every once in a while)?

Added the new content type called "Member Participation Ratings," Arouin.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Well that is why I suggested it would be an optional device added that an admin could turn on or off. I think admins that use guild portal use the participation points 2 different ways. Some of us use it as a permanent indicator of total contribution made to guild interaction since the player joined the guild. Others use it as a short term rule to show who is contributing for the now. If you allow an admin the choice of whether or not he wishes to use this function then I am pretty sure that those of us who select to use it never touch that reset participation point button anyway.

We've added a new content type called "Member Participation Ratings," which displays a listing of all members of the guild along with their participation rating. Participation ratings are calculated by posts in forums, polls voted on, and other factors. The content type allows sorting by user name or points, and adapts its display based upon what type of container it's in (three columns for center content, one column for either the left or right sides).

WOOT!!! Thank you SOOO much Aaron!!  You just helped alleviate hours worth of work for me!!

Yes the participation window alone helps keep track of the standings and makes my job easier.
