WoW Guild News (Recent Activity)

This mod allows you to grab your latest guild news using the WoW api feed. It's only set up to provide the last 25 news items, so if you want to see more, you'll have to go to your guild page on battle.net, sorry.

  • The items links go to wowhead instead of battle.net mostly because it was easier to get the tooltip set up.
  • The links to the character do go to the battle.net armory.

The Code

This is a Mod
Control Panel > Site Mods > Get Site Mods >
Look for "WoW Guild News"

Customizing

Once the mod is installed, you can modify the "Customization Code" as follows:
<script>jQuery(function(){jQuery.GPMods.showGuildNews({
/***** Modify the options below to match your guild *****/
  show   : 25,                // number of items to show (25 max)
  region : 'us',              // us, eu, kr, cn, tw
  lang   : 'en',              // en, de, es, fr, etc
  server : 'Durotan',         // include spaces
  guild  : 'The Disreputable Dogs' // include spaces
/********************************************************/
});});</script><style>
  • Change the "show" option to set how many news items to show. The max is 25 because that is all the feed provides.
  • The "region" option should match the domain from battle.net for your region, for example if you happen to be in the EU guild Legend of the Dragoon, your link would look like this:

    http://eu.battle.net/wow/fr/guild/kaelthas/Legend%20of%20the%20dragoon/

    the "eu" before battle.net targets the European region servers.

  • Set the language in the "lang" option. This is also within the above link to battle.net... http://eu.battle.net/wow/fr/...
  • Set your server name and guild name in those options. Include spaces, apostrophes and any other accented characters as you would normally type in the names.

Customize the look using the provided CSS:

/* add color and/or styling to the news report */
/********************************************************/
/* overall wrapper */
.wow-guild-news { }

/* guild name */
h3.wow-guild-name { text-align:center; margin: 5px; }
/* guild info */
h4.wow-guild-info { text-align:center; font-size: 14px; margin: 5px; }
.wow-guild-level { } /* "Level ##" */
.wow-guild-faction { } /* "Alliance" or "Horde"
.wow-guild-realm { } /* realm name */

/* news */
.wow-news-item {} /* wraps each news item */
a.wow-character-name { } /* not colored by class name */
.wow-icon { display: inline-block; width: 18px; height: 18px; } /* spacer, in case image doesn't get added */
.wow-icon img { border: 0; vertical-align: middle; }
.wow-action-type { } /* obtained/purchased/earned */
.wow-character-achievement { } /* achievement name */
.wow-points { } /* achievement points */
.wow-action-time { } /* time (recently/minutes ago/hours ago/yesterday... */
</style>
  • If you don't want the guild name, level, faction or realm, just add "display:none;" to the css class name corresponding to that item.
  • Some of you might want to colorize the "Alliance" or "Horde" text... just add a color (Alliance color: #0078ff, Horde color: #b30000).
  • The ".wow-icon" is actually a spacer where the item or achievement icon will be added. The img added inside will be 18x18 pixels in size, so add any extra padding or margins as desired.
