Mail Notification v6
by Mottie
Description
This mod opens a popup to notify you if you have a new mail message. It was written for users who wish to hide their top menu bar (state bar/log in bar). Or if you just want a bigger message telling you that you have mail. I've set it up to open either a growl window (timed popup) or a facebox (popup you have to close).
For more information on the custom variables, please see
this post
.
To style the growl window (pictured above), use the "Growl Window Styling" Mod or refer to
this post
.
To style the Facebox popup window, please refer to
this post
.

Signup Status Color v5
by Mottie
Description
This mod will add CSS classes to the character status, so you can set the color yourself with the CSS and the script will do the rest. Within the script, you can set it to just color the Status column or the entire row. This is what it will look like:
*Note: this is an old screenshot, but the code still works

Hello again!
I've got another puzzle for you all and this might be a touch more technical (in fact I know it is!)
So, I'm making up these forums for pirates of the burning sea and what I wanted was a server status box for the forums and also what the developers class as Server contention and port battle status.
To give you an idea on how these look independantly,
this is the server status page
, created by someone and this is the
main server page
by the same person.
Now the only details I would need would be that of Roberts, for our society plus I wouldn't need the whole of the second page either, more something that looks roughly like this (thrown together on photoshop)
Now, from what I've read from speaking with people on the game forums, to do this requires knowledge of html and xml for making php stuffs... that's where they lost me
From reading this
devlog here
, I can see that there's a few things I need to get, which are from the
pdf
that give a walkthrough on where the information is and how to get it.
Now I already have my apikey and userid, yet that's as far as I got
I've been given some information, like some PHP examples
1
and
2
. The latter might not work apparently.
Then the urls you'd need (from the
API PDF
)
For the server status you'd want:
http://data.burningsea.com/servers/Roberts
The scoreboard:
http://data.burningsea.com/servers/Roberts/scoreboard
And the scheduled port battles:
http://data.burningsea.com/servers/Roberts/landmarks
The first two are quite simple or so I was told, print out the raw XML first and take it from there (I was also given a link to
SimpleXML
). For the scheduled port battles you'll have to iterate over all Ports in the PortList that have the portState LM_CONTENTION and then use 'battleStartDate' (note; at this time all timestamps are at pacific time, without any timezone code added, this might change though) to see when it starts. I'd need those to have the option to be changable from that to GMT & BST too so I can cover the times through the year.
I guess my final question is, would this (any of it) be possible on Guildportal?
I'm not sure what the deal is on php things on the forums, yet I can see that a lot of code can be added onto these so perhaps it can be done...
I was also told I'd need to cache the data somewhere for each bit as these things get updated at certain times and that's what the stuff would run off (i've read through the pdf file and they have fixed updating times which the devs don't want us overriding, so stick to them please.)
I'd appreciate any help that you could give me.
Yours,
Grace

Wow that's quite a bit of work! I wish I knew Php better!
I'd be up for the challenge, but sadly I don't have the time at the moment for something this big =(
Maybe there are some other members that have a solution or up for a project?

I know, I do pick the fun stuff don't I?
The whole thing about showing server status isn't anything new really, as players have them available for lots of games.
The other stuff I've posted on there however are a whole lot more complicated... and well beyond my skills
