Fingers of Fury!

I know there has to be a guide in here already, I just can't locate it....

I am fairly new to the guildportal sites, and I've managed to use a lot of the post on this forums to do some really great things with my website- so thank you to all who contribute here!

BUT, anytime I come across things like the mouse-over nav buttons that require placing the code into the Custom StyleSheet... my website goes all bonkers. (Colors and dimensions changing). So I have to be doing something wrong with that particular aspect of GuildPortal.

If someone can link for me any old Topics that already cover the Custom StyleSheet for newbies, it would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks!

Mottie has posted a beginners guide to CSS somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

*EDIT* HERE is a master thread I created a while back, I believe what you're looking for is located within the first 2 links.

Becoming Adept!

I don't know if I'm about to break any rules here...

When I was trying to find a quick and easy way to teach myself web design, I found a site called "w3schools".  They have great interactive tutorials on everything, basic to advanced, and a section on CSS.  Unless you have HTML down pat, I would take the time to go through their whole HTML tutorial (it couldn't hurt) which transitions into CSS.

That's the site I used when I first learned how to create tables. I don't use the site much anymore, as we have our own resident HTML/CSS and soon to be jQuery master
