Becoming Adept!

Hi there,

Currently i have an image which is a 1280x1024 image on our guild website and i just have it tiling vertically which looks decent on 1280 resolution screen. But when i use anything higher or lower interms of browser or screen resolution, the image is not centered but just aligned to the left. Is there a way so that i can have the background image centered all the time, checking on the page background section there is not much to work with interms of options for the background image.

Thank for your help in advanced.

I looked at it on my desktop and on my laptop looks fine to me  it may depend on your web browser

Hi Woweecowee!

The standard settings in the control panel don't allow you to position the background image, so you'll have to do it manually. Basically, just add this line into your banner area (Control Panel > Style & Colors > Banner Area (or Footer for free sites)).
<style type="text/css">
body { background: #333333 url(http://www.axiomfiles.com/Files/297520/cr4.jpg) center top repeat-y; text-align: center; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; }
</style>
  • The numbers in blue are the background color behind the image
  • The URL to your background image is in orange
  • The text in green tells the browser to position the background image... center (left, center or right), top (top, center or bottom) and repeat-y (no-repeat, repeat-x or repeat-y). There is one additional parameter I left out which is "fixed" - this prevents the background image from scrolling.

When I tried it on the footer, it kept chopping off the last bits replacing it with "tex".

Did you try the Banner Area?... usually when the footer area has too much stuff in it, it'll trim off the extra code. So maybe you'll need to add a blank free form text/HTML box on every page with that code.
