I see that you guys have such nice XML stuff on here, but that you have to host it on your own webspace, my current ISP wont let me have a .xml site, know where i can find one that will host free?

I just added the ability to paste your XSL transform into the editor, and to use that instead of a remote URL.  Hope that helps!

Sounds most helpful Aaron. I'll have to give it a go, although I've had no problem hosting my markup files as of yet. Have you set a limit on the storage size we have for the XSL files?

No, no limits... Not actually hosting the files (you paste the contents into a text box in the editor).

What exactly is an XSL transform file? I keep wanting to use the XML box, but just cutting and pasting XML obviously isn't going to work the way using the HTML freeform box does.  Will the XML box ever be like the HTML box?

Nah, XML isn't a WYSIWYG thing... That editor would only get in the way.  Here's an excerpt from a decent book on XML/XSL that explains what it's all about pretty well: http://www.cafeconleche.org/books/bible2/chapters/ch17.html

Fingers of Fury!

Arouin, seeing what little I have so far, there's two things GP needsto utilize XML feeds.  One: the location of the XML feed.  Inour case, the XML data that DAoC is handing off....  Go to theherald, and look up our alliance guild:
http://guilds.camelotherald.com/guilds/guild.php?s=Gaheris&g=1122

At the bottom, note the "Guild XML Feed" link, that is the link to usefor the XML URL.  Now, you need to tell GuildPortal what to dowith that data... parse it somehow, thus, the XSL style sheets. The contents of the XSL style sheet tells GP what to expect in the XMLfeed, and how to display it.

In another thread, Commerick posted some XSL files that they puttogether (or found and saved).  I put the XSL feed onto my server, customized it to my liking, then set GP to use the Herald XML feed, andthe XSL file on my server, and voila... on the PB site there's acustomized list of alliance guilds on one of the pages.
