Order of the Sword & Rose
The High Horse
Your outlook on the world isdown at everyone else. The demon known as the High Horse gives you amake-believe authority over who is good and bad in a community. Youbelieve that others cannot hold up to your standards in content. Youdon’t just snub other players who’s play style is not to your liking, you often go out of your way to make certain they feel unwelcome.Slander and rudeness are your tools of the trade, not that you wouldever see it that way. After all, in your eyes you’re doing thecommunity a favor by weeding out poor quality rping. The truth of thematter is that the biggest dandelion of them all is you. Keep up thatbadmouthing and you’re liable to end up with a mouth full of herbicide. If you’re not careful, you’ll soon find yourself plucked and tossed outby the community owners for chasing away their patrons with yoursnobbing ways.
Common Sins: Ostratization, IC/OOC crossing, Metagaming
Notall rping is everyone’s slice of pie. You, however, are not the supremechef. Some people like stories with combat, others prefer romance. Someplayers describe with intricate detail, others with verbal, and otherswith little of either. All players are of different ages, and for youto expect a 13 year old kid to be on the same playing level as a 21year old adult is setting the bar a little too high. You never know whois on the other side of the computer screen, so just respect them all.Rather than turning up your nose at players content, mind your ownbusiness. Play as you would normally play with the other characters whointeract with you. If someone’s character is not your cup of tea, havesome manners when it comes to not wanting to play with them. You don’thave to be rude and nasty to someone when you don’t want to play withthem. A simple ‘no thank you’ in private will do just fine. Being astuck up jerk is doing nothing for your own content but making you looklike a prissy, spoiled, trouble-making, conflict-starting, dick.
The Good NewsYourPOSITIVE influences can help other players to be better with theircontent. Teaching someone to play does not involve you telling them howdumb or unskilled they are. Lead by example, and other players willfollow. Your ability to set your standards high ensures that qualitycontent is usually coming out story line wise, so newcomers can havesomething to admire as long as you’re not tarnishing yourself bybelittling them.
A unique Demon of its kind, therare Mobius demon causes you to feel that the only importance isyourself. Unlike the Diva-demon, it’s not based on how others arereacting and interacting with you. Infact, for the type of RPing you’redoing - ‘interaction’ doesn’t apply at all. Everything you do under theMobius Demon is one sided. You don’t pay attention to what othercharacters are doing, saying, or if they’re even reading what you’veposted. You’re so absorbed in your own actions, you probably wouldn’tnotice if the person you’re chatting with had already logged off.
Common Mobius Sins: ForcePlay, Deming, Moding
The Cure for Mobius
SlooooooowDoooooown. No one is going to bother playing with you once they realizeyou’d rather play with yourself. Who wants to be at the receiving endof a one-way conversation? Would you? Here’s an exercise to break thehabit. Try making statements that require a reaction from someone.
Instead of *buys the man at the bar a drink* try saying *orders a drink, not for himself apparently, as he sets the glass down in front of the man at the bar.* You could also have the character be direct and ask a question “How about a drink sir?” The important part of this exercise is to waitfor the reaction of the other player. Be patient - not everyone is afast typist. If you just can’t wait, you may want to give up on thiskind of roleplaying, because it sounds like you’re interested in beingalone.
ManyMobius victims are very talented and descriptive writers. Don’t losethat, just allow the input of others to enrich your work.
