"Swordarm, quickly.  We must finish these mixtures."

Dozens of implements seemed to be floating weightless above the labratory table.  Franticly, Eagle began mixing various ingredients trying to formulate the potions that would be needed.  Vials of water, acid, and a score of other substances seemed to be preforming a ballet, all to the motions of their dwarven conductor.  As they came together, he could see the sixth of the mixtures completed as required.  Pure and utter exhaustion was evident in the demeanor of this dwarf.  Only his drive, determination, and inherent dwarven stubborness seemed to keep him on his feet.

"Master, you must stop.  I can finish these vials for you.  You need rest.  You must, or you will die."

"There is nothing I will hear on this matter, Swordarm.  This must be done, and the precision needed is a bit much for you, I'm afraid.  Besides, I have to get these to Uxor and Varro once I am done.  You cannot arrive there in enough time."

Staring in pure defeat, the humculus complied with it's master.  Father Onatar, it thought, Please keep your guiding hand upon him and bring him back to me.  This all seemed so foolish.  He had never displayed anything like this before.  He never seemed to care about anyone, always gathering information, studying, learning, manipulating and playing that odd game.  A game of thrones, his master called it.  Something that was far beyond his comprehension, but nonetheless he still worked hard for his master.

As the mixing of the seventh vial came together, Eagle quickly brought up another, only to realize he was out of water.  "This will have to do.  Now to gather these elixers and make my way to Stormreach."  Refocusing his mind, he gathered all that was required, and focused upon a place.  A few short words later, and he vanished from sight.

Light.  Then sound.  And finally, sight returned to him.  Dizzy and disoriented, his head spun around as he struggled to remain standing.

After a moment, he saw where he was, and knew his path of action.

He shuffled off in the direct path of the guildhall hoping to reach them in time.  If not, all could be lost.

Staggering into the Phoenix tavern, Eagle began to scan around for any of the Fellowship members.  Vision became blurry, and fatigue began to set in.  Rushing from place to place, he had finally reached a limit that even he could not break.  He wavered on his feet, and tumbled to the ground...

Or so he thought.  He felt a large pair of arms holding him, and looked to who could have caught him.  It took a moment, but he found that the bartender, Cog, had wrapped him up before he hit the ground.  "Are you alright, sir?  You appear to be very intoxicated.  Perhaps we can see to getting you to a room...,"

"Cog, nevermind that now.  I have something that I need you to pass along for me.  Take these vials and this note.  Give them to either Varro, Uxor, or Points.  Tell them that these are the potions, and have them read this.  It should explain everything.  As for me, I have to rest now."

Barely able to stand, the dwarf spoke slow hissing words, and vanished from sight.

Back at the Lab, Eagle reappeared.  With a single step, he collapsed to the ground.

Swordarm took note of his master's arrival, and when he saw him fall, snapped into action.  He hoisted up the dwarf, and took him to his chambers.  He began to give him drink, and food to nourish his body.  Then he placed him upon his bed, and watched over him.

"Master needs his rest, and I must wait for him to awaken.  I will see to the Lab and check in on him as I can."

An image formed in front of him, and a stout looking dwarf stood before the construct.  "Where are you going, little one?  Has not your master carefully pointed out the severity of this mission?"

"W-W-Who are you?  Why are you here?  Leave him, he needs rest!!"

"Calm yourself, little one.  I have been watching you both for some time, and I must say that I am pleased.  You may call me Father.  Or if you prefer a more personal name, then Onatar."

Could it be? the construct puzzled.  Is the great Forge Father come here?  "Why have you come?"

"I have heard your plight, and seen the actions of your master, and I wish to help you this day.  You picked a most unusual day for prayer.  Know you much of this day?"  The construct shook his head.  "I thought not, " he continued.  "Today is the Day of Completion.  Your master remembered this from his studies, and he has only seen it now once in his life.  The other times he was to busy completing his projects, as he has done now.  Every century, on the seventh day, of the seventh month, of the seventh year there used to exist a festival.  The Day of Completion.  It was noted in the histories that any who completed a project on this day would reap great benefits, and that their work would be flawless.  He knew of it, and struggled so hard to complete what he had set upon himself.  It was a day of feasting, contests, invention and other joys.  While it has been long lost to the lesser races, Some still believe in it.  Do not be troubled by his actions.  And fear not for his life, he will live out, but most likely might not wake for a few days."

The construct just stood in awe.  Nothing could come, the aura of majesty and lordship this being exuded was overwhelming.  Swordarm heard those words, and knew everything would be alright.  No reason, no explanation, he just KNEW it would come out alright.  As if the sense that the fight his master had been struggling through these last few days was finished, and the task was completed.

"But Forge Father, what of his new friends?  Will they live out?  Will they be able to save him?"

"That is less certain.  I can say but one thing, whatever the outcome of their battle, today it will be completed.  Your master has done all he can to assist them, and with the tools he provided, they should be able to succed.  However, in the event that they fail, all hope is not lost.  He is still here, and he can take up the fight once again.  Either way, my blessing rests upon him, and on the task of his Fellowship this day."

And with those words, the elder dwarf walked over to the sleeping Dwarf.  "You are an oddity among the dwarves.  Not only are you one who builds and repairs, but you have taken an affinity for the arcane.  Not to mention your natural ease with manipulating flames.  Reminds me of myself sometimes."  He reached down to look over the dwarf.  Then he saw the mark upon his face.  "Ah, so you are beginning to outwardly manifest the mark at last.  I believe it is about time you gained the power of it fully."  With those words he reached out, and began to move his hands, and the mark twisted.  Bending and shaping around the head, until it came to rest in a most elaborate fashion, larger than any other dragonmark of it's type.  "You my boy, have the Siberys Mark of Warding.  I believe it is time for you to cast off the name of your exile, and become who you should be.  A lord in the halls of House Kundarak.  When you awaken, your eyes will now be open to your mark, and then you will find your new path."  Turning to leave, he said to the humunculus, "Watch him well, and make sure that he awakes only when he has rested."  In the next thought, he vanished.
