That must blow jnr, I almost never get sick, maybe a couple times a year.

On the other topic, while hearing a voice may ruin the immersion somewhat, in all necessary manners voice chat could be quite helpful in game, especially if its urgent or needs to be stated quickly. Like in a battle, you could tell another party member what to do or request healing and/or magical support. You could also alert your fellow players more quickly of any approaching dangers.

So i think we should use voice chat mainly in battle. The benefits of using voice chat in battle heavily outweighs the hindrances.
This is my take on it.

I have been in full groups where voice was used, but very rarely used for RP.

Even in tabletop games that I played actual modulation of your voice for RP wasn't really done much.

I play female characters sometimes and I am definitly not going to talk in falsetto

RP in my mind is actions and staying within the framework of your character/race/class.

So far using voice has removed a LOT of immersion, but there are times when you may not want to RP and voice is good in those situations.

I have generally started to use typing/emotes for RP and voice for general things like 'meet you at bonebit', or asking questions that would normally be prefaced with OOC in other games.

I was recently thinking about joining up with the Oldtimers Guild, but some things I gathered from their posts is that the majority of them don't RP in chat or voice, to me this facilitates playing DDO with fewer RP elements, so thats why I have discovered this group.

A mix of voice and chat I think is ideal.

   I like voice chat but there is one flaw. Every one is so quite I can barly here them even with my volume turned all the way up.

DDo's voice chat in game was very buggy yet when I had my 10 day beta just over a week ago.  People said they could hear me but I could not hear anyone else after just a couple of minutes  I bugged it at least 12 times. 

Teamspeak is a free download and it works pretty well ... only downside is that sometimes you can get more people wanting to use it than there is room in the chat room ... especially if the guild is active

As for RP'ing in chat it can be done... just because you are a man with a manly voice doesn't mean that you can't rp chat a female.  Take a look at any gaming group for the PnP game... men rp women there and have to speak ... they don't try to change their voice (usually) it isn't how you sound but what you say that is important

As a rogue, I would pleed that even if you dont intend on chatting, that you at least have it enabled. As expressed before, I seldom have time to stop, and warn of a trap before 1-3 ppl trigger it. I found great success of voice warning of a trap and decreased the injuries ten fold. I do not voice chat too often unless I am in a group I am familier with. I have not noticed many issues with the voice chat...except that sneeze I let loose while on push to talk, it still went through and blew a few ear drums out
