< Welcome to this Role-Playing Forum, before you start, please read the following. >

Having been a member on many forums, I must say I find many of them commendable; however, I've noticed a certain lack of etiquette that has thrown off many of the RP'ers struggling to keep a coherent story going. I am speaking, for instance, of new characters plopping in, out of nowhere, and totally changing the existing rp'ers story (most likely because they failed to read the story before entering it).

1) Ask permission to join a story. Politeness is a rare commodity. The group may be at a very tense point in their story, Private message (PM) them, you may be the knight in shining armour they needed, or not. Ask first

2) Use spell and grammar checks. Most forums provide them, so use them

3) PM other posters in your story rather than typing OOC (out of context/character) posts. Too many OOC posts in a story thread throws off cohesion and makes it difficult to follow the train of the story. In addition, PM'ing allows you to talk in detail with the other posters in regards to the storyline. PM that you can go on the Chat Feature too!

4) Know your character. Understand how your characters fit into Eberron and your guild.

5) Practice makes perfect. We are blessed with some excellent story tellers; learn from them, notice how they write. Try and be descriptive without going Over The Top.

6) It is essential that other people be able to use your character, it aids the storyline flow alot smoother. But respect that character and how he/she is being played.

7) Have fun!

I'd just like to agree and emphasise the importantance of flow within the RPing on the DDO forum, without a doubt i think this is THE major facet we have in our recruitment. It shows best who we are and what we're about, hooking readers and making them regular viewers to our guild.

As such please read carefully the development of the thread and be sensitive to the time factor and characters of the story.

There's nothing worse than when one character takes the lead, enters a room and acts;
Then a second character responds to the first,
Then a third character takes the thread further.
When a forth states "I go into the room first and ....."

In my opinion it's rude and ignorant to the creativity of everyone else who has participated.

I may sound like a drama queen here but can i propose that if this happens the previous, correct entry is copied and re-entered after the incorrect one? Or am i taking this too far?

Time line.

May be a small thing to some but amazingly quite important to a narrative.

Please can we take the time to digest what other people have written so that new posts are not seen as ignorant and unthoughtful.

If 'A' bursts through a door into a room and fires at a goblin. Then 'B' states he follows 'A' watching his back and attacks a goblin to 'A's left. 'C' then charges a further goblin...

What's our opinion of 'D' who states 'I go in the room first and kill all the goblins!'

Exactly....please can we be more aware of what others are writing to get the thread moving?

Greetings all:

I want to take a moment to remind everyone of these things and post a few etiquette comments for your perusal.  Please review and adopt them in your game play.  This will help improve you and your fellows gaming experience. Please think about what you’re saying in both Guild chat, and in Stormwatch.

We are all here to have fun.  That is what the game is all about.  The Fellowship exists to add to that fun and provide a safe and comfortable environment for us to play together.  However…

·         Talking about, simulating or implying sex in public chat makes people uncomfortable and can lead to claims of sexual harassment. Both are violations of the EULA and could get you booted or banned.

·         Excessive or unwanted flirting is no longer flirting.  It IS sexual harassment. (see above)

·         Role-play is not an excuse to make people uncomfortable or to be abusive.

·         When it comes to character quirks, less is more.  You needn’t spam repeated clumsiness or drunken behavior.

·         Guildies, Allies and members of Stormwatch do not exist solely for your entertainment.  If you are looking for someone to do something, spamming the channels or whining about no one playing with you WILL NOT endear you to them, however clever you may think you are.

·         When role-playing try to use /say as much as possible.  /e /em and /me will broadcast your comment across the instance and intrude into everyone’s conversation.

·         If you have an issue with something, tell someone.  They cannot correct their behavior if they don’t know they are bugging you.

·         If you cannot take it to them directly, then talk to an officer. We are here to help and have no problem with helping work these issues out before they become bigger problems.

So please keep these things in mind and be courteous to your fellow gamers.
