Yup.

I love their explanations.

Redmond reporter Chris Paoli commented in a related newsletter that "If found to be at fault by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, a $16,000 fine per violation (which could be counted for each Safari user) per day could be issued. If my math is correct, that comes out to about a kajillion dollars Google may owe."

I suspect however, that they will get a slap on the wrist, if anything, much like they did for the Google Street Wi-Fi snooping fiasco, which they couldn't blame on Apple product "functionality" making them do it. :-P

This naughtiness will cost them $22.5M in civil penalty fines...about 5 hours worth of their revenue stream, based on last year's figures, plus the consent decree contained a denial of liability. All in all, as predicted, pretty shrug (if not outright lol) worthy for Google, in terms of punitive measures levied by the FTC, but I suppose it is something.
